9.4mm here. The main band has passed Melbourne now, but the Thomson is really scoring well so far. Hope it brings the levels up a bit. Rain is always welcome at my place.

Seems like there's more developing from the west.

Just got home from work and we are now being pounded with the heaviest rain I have seen in a long time. Awesome!

That band over you Norfolk is very strange. It's moving against the flow - presumably some squall line feature. Given the very humid low levels and low cloud base would anticipate the radar could be underestimating its intensity.
Looks like another burst soon for the rest of us on the "wind" change.

yes I noticed on the radar it seemed to be developing right over me and moving from the SW. And the rain remains heavy with very strong winds as well.

Feels and looks like a mid winters afternoon in London out there. Moderate, thick drizzle here in Elwood. Nice to see how soaked the trees are around the place. Excellent for the new blooms.
Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
Driest rainfall in September was recorded last year with 12.0mm, so we're really up on that already. Hopefully the trend continues and we have some nice downpours into Summer too.

14.5mm at Doncaster East
Am stoked after such a wierd day up to early afternoon. This band tracking up towards Melbourne is one of the more unusual moving bands I've seen!! Going in all directions, very dis-organised.

Beautiful day out here near Chadstone. On the way home from work had torrential drizzle type rain, only showing up as white on radar but was pretty thick. The southerly has really pushed through in the last half hour with some strong gusts. Looking nice on radar for the next couple of hours. Vis sat pic shows some decent hieght on those bands to the west. Could see some very nice falls if that sits on top of you

Torrential Drizzle out there now love it!
Checked the gauge before at 14mm. Great result, especially with the models still holding firm for some more early next week.
Up to around 60mm MTD around here as far as I can gather, on top of a decent August and July...things are looking good. Just need it to continue for another year and the dams might actually get above 50%

Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
Its turning out to be a great event...15mm here so far and another good band moving in...has to be the best system we have had in a fair while as far as a pure rain event type scenario goes. Never looked like weakening at all except for a bit this morning but she really cranked just over us rather than East of us like i thought it would..

Fantastic result here, 15mm! That is close to our best fall for the year around this area. Might even hit 20mm!

Winds have picked up here with a stronger band of showers.
Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
17.2mm from this one and i think thats it from this one almost got to 20mm i was hoping for. Bring on the next one. The river through town is getting rather full now depending on the rain early next week we could see it spill over the banks as the sand at the mouth is very high! time will tell.

Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
Really is thick up here again (and that's just the rain). Also pea soup fog - viz at about 50m with cloud down to the bottom of the mountain (about 150m).
On 25mm and currently falling at 5-10mm/hr. Could well be another 10mm before it finally clears - amazed that EC got this persistent rain - it showed rain for about 18 hours (we've had rain on and off now since about 4am).
Lots of water running off the mountain this night (follows last weeks ~50mm so the top soil layers are now starting to get pretty damp). Should mean some decent runoff is starting to appear for the catchments.
BTW that band through the northwest suburbs dropped 22mm at Rockbank (where they have now had 33mm for the event - the top score in the state so far).
PS Saturday is now looking pretty interesting - could see a few showers and maybe even a rumble.

I think those in the western suburbs will be very happy tonight. I didnt get to see any rain, 5mm for me. Looked more like 10 in some places I passed going on the size of the puddles after the rain went through.

This is a very slow moving system, moving at approximately 30 kph, at this rate judging by the radar, Lilydale will be experiencing rain for about 4-5 more hours. Amazing, and awesome, considering that all the other systems fly through. We are going to get some pretty good totals I think.

Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
Looks like we will just fall short of our biggest total for the year here (23mm early March). This system had a few of us sucked in earlier today.
As I type the next burst of heavy showers has started.
