my first post here - thanks to a few posters on WZ that pointed me in the right direction!

Welcome Hamlan and spread the word - the more the merrier.

5.5mm for here in the end - was heavy a couple of times (rain rate up to 45mm/hr) but just couldn't keep going. Still an enjoyable day - sunny morning, rain around lunch, sunny afternoon then a thundery squall to finish it off. Now just need Collingwood to win Razz

Sadly that didn't happen. Nuff said silent

It bucketted down @ the G for a good 30mins about an hour before the start of play.

Hi everyone.. I decided to go on a little chase down towards Frankston and Mornington this afternoon.. I didn't see any lightning for the whole day but the storm that came through had quite an impressive looking high-ish based guster on it.. And the most noticeable part of the whole system was the 9c temperature drop in less than 15 minutes that accompanied it as it passed overhead! Anyway here's a couple of pics from down that way..

Those pics sum it up nicely for down here yesterday. We got about 6 drops of rain out of it. Was very low and black, tried to form a nice line but the bay ruined it, only 13 degrees bay temp atm.

Expect to see some isolated afternoon showers across the south, with isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast later today, still remaining fairly unstable.

EDIT: And just for interests sake, here is todays BoM thunderstorm chart that just got updated...

Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
Victoria Regional Office

THUNDERSTORM FORECAST
Issued at 11:43 am Sunday, 20 September 2009,
Valid until midnight on Sunday, 20 September 2009.

There is the risk of isolated thunderstorms in the far east this afternoon. There has been a history of high-based thunderstorms in this area this morning. The low-levels should dry out from the west during the course of the afternoon, so the thunderstorm risk will diminish by early this evening.

Too far southwest here in the dong, but had some nice acca/towers the s'morning. was good to see some instability. Had some great cirrocu too. Looking forward to tommorow/tuesday, hopefully some action, would be nice to get some first timer night shots of lightning with the cam.
