Boy oh boy, Mallacoota up to 36.8mm since 2pm now. They have overtaken me for the week, they are up to 59.6mm. Hmm and I thought it was going to be wetter here for once, 11mm in 30mins. Wish I was there.

Geez Lake Mountain looks great Jane. How much snow fell there? For what it's worth SES crew members searching for lost people in Alpine National Park up near Licola were interviewed on commercial news tonight and stated that near a metre had fallen on top of Mt Skene over the last 2 days. I've noticed over the years that the alps in this area often get massive dumps of this magnitude this time of year so maybe he was right.

Thanks for all the fantastic, informative posts for this event. It has been an excellent thread to read. Good to hear it's still raining in some areas too.

Interesting that the bay effect has been so prominent with this system despite an average bay temp of just 14C, or is it just the convergence around the low setting itself up over eastern Melbourne due to it's position?

28mm overnight. Was very thick drizzle and fog all night. Month now sitting on 199.6mm Very Happy - just need one more shower to crack the 200! Was strange having a weekend when it rain almost non-stop.

Particularly heavy drizzle this morning about the central Dandenongs - suspect totals in Olinda could well top 50mm. Also fantastic falls in the catchments - based on Warburton has probably been the odd fall near 100mm in the catchments.

Could be more rain this week but haven't looked closely.

PS Andrew you have to expect little rain when it goes SW. The same goes for us out east when the flow in NW.

18.6mm here to 730. Had another heavy shower when leaving home but rather narrow -~1km wide.

Just so very wet, water everywhere. Hope to squeeze another few mm but it's easing.

A new thread will be required for mid week with the chance of inland showers and storms drifting southeast.

Managed to more than double yesterday's 7mm, have 15mm since 9am yesterday now. It's been drizzling since I woke this morning but seems to be easing a little now. 60mm from Friday to 9am today, you have to be happy with that, even happier that the catchments are getting some good rain, it's great Very Happy

Absolutely incredible, everywhere out here is flooded. Another 17mm overnight and up to 66 for the entire system, would take that every day of the year. And all the snow will mean great top ups the next month as the ground is absolutely saturated.

There was an easy foot of snow near the gates to Lake Mountain if not more!! Most I've ever seen in the time I've been photographing snow there (about 10 years)

Scored another inch overnight pretty much in torrential drizzle, bordering on rain.

Takes me up to 36mm since Saturday morning, or top of the 26mm Friday.

So 62mm since Thursday night. Amazing stuff.

Sideways dizzle in town at the moment. Lots of running water thru Box Hill this morning. Gutters in full flow. Kerrimuir reserve had big puddles, with one of the storm water drain backing up and pouring onto Dorking Road.

Pouring again! Not showing on radar, but it is heavy. Unbelievable!

Just checked the gauge, another 5mm since I empied the thing a bit over an hour ago.

Un-eventful here overnight apart from strong winds. Its partly cloudy this morning with cool conditions outside, actually quite nice. Winds have also eased dramatically. Good to see scattered showers continuing on the radar through E Melbourne and the Far East.

Today, I expect to see only a possible isolated shower or two along the west coast, otherwise the west and much of the north should be fine and partly cloudy today, whilst the Far East continues to see scattered showers, gradually becoming isolated throughout the day. E Melbourne will also see an easing in showers this early afternoon, and most activity should clear overnight.

Bit of a dissapointment out this way compare to lots of others 18mm for the system since Friday I predicted 20mm which was my low estimate so fell short but overall a great system and one of the better ones for September. 50-150mm in the Melbourne dams O'Shannassy had 160mm since Friday.

Verdict is out for later this week models all over the place know better in 24-48 hours what to expect which way it will swing if rain mainly goes North and east of us or go further south.

We had even less around my area John, 12mm all up for the system. Agree that we missed most the rain out this way, but at least we finally got some decent totals where they are desperately needed....the catchments! Very Happy

I'm getting some concrete work done during the week so this will guarentee the next system will produce a possible flash flood for the area! Razz

2mm yesterday and a further 11mm overnight in heavy drizzle. Amazing system. Apart from yesterday, we had 5 10mm+ falls in a row and 6 10mm+ falls for the month. 70mm for the week and 87mm since the 17th. Up to 108mm for the month and 393mm for the year. The same date last year we had 367.2mm so we are ahead this year. The thing is we had 185.5mm for the last 3 months last year with that awesome weekend mid-December. Wonder if we can beat last year's total?

Mallacoota had 40mm yesterday and 10mm today, 72.6mm for the week. They are always wetter there no matter what, it's not like they need it but at least it minimises the bushfire risk somewhat.

Can't believe you missed out so much John, I don't think you are really that far away from me, I guess it just favoured the further east you went as usual.

Amassed a neat 20mm overnight through the convergence. Past 7 days have resulted in 20mm, 7mm,18mm,8mm,0mm,2mm,16mm=70mm @ 479 mm YTD.
Excellent results, reminds me of the rains we used to get at the start of cricket season in the late 80's early to mid 90's.
