Nice blob heading for Eildon Wes! Hope it holds up as it approaches the area. First rain of the day now falling in Elwood albeit light

New radar is crap for me. It never reflects whats actually happening with regard to rain. Wind is fine tho. Moderate rain is the worst radar for me, means light mist or pelting down but nothing in between. It does red and black very well but nothng else.
Having looked at this new version for however long it has been in use, its not much chop. Its really no better than enlarging the old images. I reckon the former colour scheme was better too. The greens in this version dont give enough contrast.
Hope its dry tomorrow morning for ride for your life to work, here comes a P plater on speed day.

Cant understand why the City and western suburbs are consistently missing out on rain. The city has received only 6mm's this month so far (ave 67mm's) and have only had around 280mm's for the year (ave 650mm's) Here in Cranbourne by comparison we have 20mm's this month (ave 74mm's) and 495mm's for the year (ave 820mm's) That's 60% of the yearly average while the city has had only 43% of the yearly average so far.

Should fill in once the wind goes more W and then particularly for eastern areas when the wind goes SW. Purely the NW rain shadow effect. If there is any NW of decent strength the donut hole will always be there, fact of life.

Fingers crossed this band currently @ Ballarat/Meredith continues to strengthen and beat the forcefield. Travelling almost due west to east..

I reckon the city guage up in the far eadt of the CBD needs to be moved. Its affected by the buildings and the heat island effect IMO.
Light rain here.

Flat as a tack so topography is a hindrance, too many hills in the way basically (rain shadows) and the wrong side of the bay. Those three factors are the most influential IMO with respect to southern and central VIC rainfall.

Yep, frustrating as it is thats life out here in the great western suburbs desert. I've only been in the area a year and already I'm sick of the pathetic rainfall out here.
Anyhow back to the current system, looks like we might get something from this next lot approaching from the west.

Yeah we will get something now...building ahead of the area of rain which is good as well...
Think we are in for some short downpours in the next hour or so.

Whilst it over-registering in some areas down there, The radar up here tends to under-register. Was in the shopping center before when the tip of that rain band came through, radar showed dark green, and the wind and rain was amazing. Water cascading down walls, and plumming not coping with the amount of water coming down.
As for now, looks like we have another shower coming through soon. I saw 1 small flash to my NE about 30min ago, which was confirmed in radar, but was just a cc. Still way to sporadic to try and go shoot something. Maybe a coldie or 2 tonihgt, but will have to be on the ball to catch one, as they are moving very quickly, and very pulsy...

Hey guys, I missed out last weeks system the SE airstream one which was very unlucky had 1mm. So far with this one had 2mm, if you include yesterdays rain, tonight I've had 1.4mm, told Karl today might get 5mm between tonight and tomorrow and looks to be heading excatly that way. It's been a good October in most areas but Looks like I will fall way behind here again unless I get a Very good drop Thursday and Friday and some good fronts next week. Average is 64mm here and have had 6mm for the month so similar to the City & neally half way through the month we are so its been very dry here since the Grandfinal week

Just had a nice shower go through here with some nice solid rain it it. don't know how much just yet but reckon it will be about 2-3mm so ad that to the 3.5mm we have had and it has finally given something us usefull(just). Would have been handy to have it all at one time but better than nothing.

Its been showering all afternoon and tonight, still currently. Looks like we are in a bit of a wrap around from the low, and should most likely persist here tonight/overnight.
We had 4.8mm this morning and another 10mm since then.

Evening all,
Well a very exciting day today. Had my 4,500l rainwater tank installed and the gods have already delivered 4mm. (6mm days total)
As you know I am not an expert in this field, however I have been watching the cloud mass currently to the West of Tasmania and I suspect the circulation of the low will slam it into Gippsland and hopefully delivery double digit totals to the Thomson Dam. Thoughts?
