Nice & wet up here this morning with fog, thick drizzle and showers. 4mm more overnight and still coming down. Even total is now up to 22mm - not bad, but really need a good finish for us!
Should be a damp 36 hours for the south and ranges. Best of it should fall in places like the Yarra Ranges, Otways, South Gippsland where 20mm+ seems pretty likely.
Depending on temperatures today may make a dash up to Donna Buang/Upper Yarra for a late season snow/flood chase. It's a bit marginal ATM but it is slowly cooling off in the uppers.

- it was on Channel 7 news. Around the site floods quite regularly - at least twice last year - but one would expect the plant itself is a little less flood prone. Why is this not all over the news???
Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers or rain. Oct 12th to 17th
The sounding we're doing at the moment here at Broadmeadows looks wet to say the least! Absolutely saturated all the way up to 500hpa! The temps are starting to cool rapidly as well.. Somebody let off a balloon at around 3am this morning and the temperature at 500 was -21c and now it's cooled down to -27c! I think the forecast of hail later this morning might be on the money..
It's been steadily raining lightly here at Broadmeadows overnight and at times this morning but we've only had 3.8mm so far..

Torrential rain here at the moment but as usual, BOM radar only indicating light rain. If ever that radar shows black coming this way I will know it must be raining housebricks. Always seems to underestimate around my area.

Getting plenty of showers up here but mostly light. Had another ~3mm since emptying the gauge this morning.
Strikes me that this system is really not living up to it's potential - it has been miserable up here for nearly 4 days but we have only just cracked an inch. Hoping it all gets a bit more organised this arvo. The city is still to get to 10mm

Had a great 20 minute downpour in bayswater. Very solid constant rain. Has stopped now, even seeing a few patches of blue sky at the moment, but mostly grey. Hoping to get a lot more this afternoon if all goes the way we want.

Lightning has already been observed near Yarrawonga. The airmass across Victoria will continue to destablise today, however low level moisture will diminish over the northwest. Thunderstorms are possible across most of Victoria this afternoon and overnight. Individual thunderstorms are unlikely to result in any severe weather.

East Ringwood had a very nice downpour around 10.30am, lots of water on roads through Bayswater on trip home.
Come home to find only 0.5mm since 7.30am here in Boronia.

Afternoon all Not much to report here, while there's certainly been rain about and everything's soggy (and the dogs are covered in mud ), the gauge is only showing 14.5mm since Monday, with just over 3mm overnight and today. Looking forward to seeing if we get some activity this afternoon.

Nice gusty rain 5 mins ago, should thicken up as it goes east.
Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
Lovely Hail shower just now. Rice grain size i'd say... Looking very chunky out there. I'm heading over to Sutton Grange for some work, so i think camera might be a good idea. The extra lift in the hills and i think i might even see a landspout or 2.

Hail Not much, hardly any rain, just a tiny dump of hail and wind's picked up out of nowhere.
ROFL, dogs were out on the grass when it started, now they're huddling under the pergola barking at it! Lots of hail now, bigger than pea sized
