Yeah had 16mm here for the system 10 of which came yesterday and have had nothing today just dry and sunny, good to see the inland and others are still getting some rain which is great as a very dry 2 weeks is ahead of us.
25mm for the month with only a few more to come for the month i reckon
Warm and sunny next week

Well, this is a surprise. Moderate to heavy showers/rain areas. Wasn't expecting anything here today, thought it would all go east of Melbourne even though GFS picked up showers for here. I'm never hopeful in any sort of SW wind setup. In the end, another unstable day and the ranges are really kicking things along. Haven't checked the gauge but this could end up very productive. Almost feel like I'm in the Dandenongs or somewhere caught in a SW shower stream.
Very interesting to come home to this with Melbourne sunny for most of the day.

Some serious grass growth going on atm. Weeds and grass 3 feet high around here, in parks, bush, roadsides, railway lines. When that dries out, bad news, Almost would have been better off without this rain this time of year. You will be able to watch the grass grow on tuesday. Just hope some crops are growing at the same rate for the farmers somewhere.

Just emptied out 9.8mm. I reckon it will probably die down here now that we are past sunset and then redevelop in the usual bay stream mainly over the north eastern suburbs. Moderate falls likely overnight for a lot of Melbourne and catchments also. Really surprised in the end. Yesterday was supposed to be the big day for showers but it has ended up today.

Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
The flow had to relax a little and with diurnal heating there was no suprise this end of town with the showers developing away from the bay. Very normal.
12mm @ Cardinia Reservoir this afternoon and could end up with around 20mm. The Bunyip Catchment is pretty much saturated now so heavy downpours overnight could cause some local minor flooding.
Should see 5-10mm here overnight.
Very good rain ahead of a warmer week but there are signs of thundery weather possibly towards the end of next week so maybe no so bad?? More of that in the new thread

In the middle of a quick but heavy burst of rain. Almost hail, but a welcome surprise!!
Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
10mm here for the week, so a handy system. It has been very cold at night here. It's hard to pick, I love the winter weather but due to the weekend I was kind of ready for warmer weather but another cool week has mixed it up a bit. Not for long though, next week looks warmish.
Good to hear about the totals elsewhere.

Is that for the day Dagget? I notice Bullengarook is up to 16mm so certainly some heavy showers around.
Just coming down heavy again here on the back edge of the shower passing through Riddells Creek to Romsey area.

Radar under-estimating at the moment. Getting a decent heavy shower right now which appears on radar as drizzle.
Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
Inner suburbs doing very well and a few totals around Warrandyte-Mitcham should see 10mm.
Drizzle areas continuing 10-20km east and west of that central stream of showers.
All should ease and breakup by lunch.
Make the most of it.
1mm here tonight. 3mm for the day.

Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
One of the heavier showers here for the year, been going about 20 minutes, enough to wake me up. Front yard under water. Really loud on the roof. Shower stream is only 1km wide. Very lucky here. 8mm in about 25 minutes. The AWS which is for once inline with me has had 6mm in the same time.
Looking further south there is more with moderate rain now falling!! Hoping to now make 15mm to 9am sitting on 11mm for the day.
Low cloud would be about 200m off the ground!!

Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
Flow now gone too southerly here in Sandy Point and has been mostly dry - not a bad thing as it has been exceptionally wet down here - the locals are all complaining about the rain. Just 0.6mm overnight (event total of ~45mm).
More fantastic falls overnight though the eastern burbs into the catchments. Baw Baw up to 24mm and still falling. Cardinia/Bunyip/Lang Lang has also done fanatastic with event totals in the 50-100mm+ range. Should see more good runoff (shame this can't go on another week ).
Will clear today for most, most likely early/mid afternoon.

Re: Victoria: Wintry fronts with Showers. October 12th to 17th 2009
Not even 4mm overnight (since 6pm). As I said to Karl earlier, everything seems to have been going just south or just north of me here this week. I swear I could have reached out and touched the storm that came through Thursday afternoon, it was right on my doorstep but didn't quite make it here.
I noticed driving around yesterday there seemed to be an awful lot of potholes that have suddenly appeared. Why is it that as soon as you get some decent rain, potholes come up?

well it looks like i scored 15mm for this system taking me to 18mm for the month. It sounds disappointing except i've had 118mm in the last six week.
Mt baw baw has had 735mm in the last 90 days
