Do you have a dirty big TV that you love?
I need a new one, have gone off Plasma because of the juice they use, so its LCD.
They all look the same to me. having grown up with B&W, really any color display is ok! I have been looking at the big name brands, but want to know if you are really in love with your new TV and what it is.

I know Anthony Violi has a great enormous TV - amazing blue ray dvd player to go with it. Truly does not make you want to work or do anything honest having that there!!

Mick,
I got a LG 42inch plasma some 3 years ago. We have not had one problem with it. 3 months ago we bought a 37inch Panasonic Full 1080 HD LCD. The best TV I have ever had. I run my laptop thru it when I am downstairs which is mint.
2 pieces of advice. Do not spend of $2,000 for the TV, you don't need to. Always get a 5yr warranty included. Piece of mind is worth the extra $'s!!

Our rear projection died two weeks ago *sniff* Of course, my husband saw this as a damned fine excuse to go wandering around Harvey Norman drooling over the really, really big tv's. I won't tell you what his reaction was when we walked into the simulated home theatre room set-up
We've got both a 42in plasma (apparently not big enough according to my husband, but it will do ) and a small lcd tv, the only thing I would say with lcd's is that you need to be careful when watching it from the side (on an angle) as some of the lcd's can be "shadowy". Go for the higher pixels, you get a much better picture.

Thanks Karl yes its big and yes i love it...
Its a Samsung series 6 52" LCD....truly an awesome quality picture..had it for 18 months now, it was just shear luck that i found a forum where they done a group buy and got $1700 off retail...truly awesome.
I bought an LG plasma in 05, last year gave it to the kids, needless to say they love watching their TV these days!
You cant compare them though, LCD is so much better for quality..really depends how much you want to spend. I went to Costco on Saturday and saw the 55" LED Samsung for $4449, which is very cheap..and its truly remarkable how its an inch thick!

I know that Plasma TVs are finished, cost too much to run, too many black balloons etc.
I know that 3dTV is just around the corner. Thats what I am waiting for, "I predicted this" lol, so I cant wait.
So I agree, Im finding ways not to spend 2 grand for 3 hours a night. Im now thinking 40-46 inch, LCD, 200hz sony because of the 3 year warranty. Ive never owned a sony anything, but they have been around as long as I have. Plus you get a PS thingo that I can sell. That will cover taking the warranty to 5 years I reckon.
