Very heavy rain here, matching rain rate from last weekend, albeit lasting only a minute or so.

Not much in the Dandenongs - just light rain from a thundery looking sky - about 1mm in Ferny Creek. Some good falls just to the west however - is pouring in Blackburn ATM and the area around Trentham has done really well.

That said - this is just the morning teaser for what should be a ripper day. All the models are showing hefty falls across Victoria today - typically in the range of 10-30mm in central areas. The LI go very low this arvo possibly down around the -5. With surface Dps into the 20s this should see some thumping slow moving very wet storms develop.

Nice heavy shower at the moment with a few rumbles. I have suspicion my little 35mm rain gauge may have an issue with overflow by the time I get home from work. Maybe i should set up the eskygauge! Razz

Very good conditions already! This is just a taste of what should come this afternoon and evening where there could be some monster storms about. Good to see BoM joining us in predicting severe weather too! Very Happy

Nice area of rain and storms through central parts atm. Nothing here apart from light rain but expecting that to increase throughout the day and thunderstorms to develop.

Get ready for a great day!!!

GEEZ, 30mm in my guage and still thumping down here. Models have gone nuts, GFS giving 100mm around here until Sat night and EC giving us 112mm in the same time, and giving us 63mm today, and thats on top of what we've had last night. affraid 90mm in less than 24 hrs. Won't happen.
Also EC giving us 50mm in the 6hrs from 5pm tonight. Don't think we will get those rainfall figures but anythings a bonus now. Very Happy

Think you will get that easy.

Storms will be most severe east and north of the rain area this afternoon.

Chance of flash flooding in the far western suburbs and Geelong next couple of hours

Well I certainly won't complain if we do Karl, Very Happy although some of the paddocks around here might, not good getting a heap of silt running into a dam but have to take it when you get it. Rain easing off here, will be nice to get a sunny break but don't like the chances.

Scored a direct hit in Kerang at about 5am with a nice storm, the cat hid under the bed! Tipped out 23.2 mm this morning. Only 10.2 mm in Cohuna which wasn't directly under the storm. This month looks like panning out to be one of the wettest in a decade the way it's going.

Morning all, about 2mm had fallen back home overnight (up to 7.15am) when I left for work. There is some very heavy stuff further west, currently in a dry slot here.

Not far off a STW for the western suburbs.

Sounds fairly lightning active.

Local falls of 20-30mm in the next little while there.

That rainband currently bearing down on Vic from the north looks nasty. Will likely cause havoc when it hits the Wimmera amd Western district. But a dry slot east of it might mean the Riverina region will miss out.

I expect that rain to contract over C areas later but before that, strong wet storms in Melbourne.

what do you think the totals will be for the day in melb cbd powerstorm? As good as the upgrades from the models this morning? 20-30mm going by GFS, slightly less EC, Bom. Current rain seems to have contracted to the west for now.

Just in from Greg S, he is on the Western Freeway getting smashed from that line. And he has pics. Smile

Had a nice wake up call last night at 2am. Slight rain and flashes all around, scored a direct hit at 3am, however only saw 1 CG the entire night. All CC's. THe wind was crazy, at least gusting to 70-80kph at some points. Woke again at 7am to a massive clap of thunder, walk outside and as i wipe the sleep (what little there was Smile ) from my eyes an amazing roll coud was going overhead. So i jumped in the car and tried to get ahead of it, but was moving way to fast. Ended up stopping in Redesdale for a couple of shots, and then raced back to Bendigo for work.

Cant wait to see what today holds. Smile

Delicious I think...

Some broken down form of a guster over the northern sky here - must be attatched to something more spectacular out in the wet west.

Welcome ChillOut!! Let your friends know we are here :-)

My mate Mike, 40km west of bendigo tipped 40mm out of his guage this morning. Bloody sensational if your not harvesting.
Nothing here at all now or during the night, but hopefully our time will come this afternoon. I might be heading to Ararat this afternoon so will probably encounter something somewhere. I will be in a hurry though, so little time to stop for photos!!!

Just tipped 36mm out of the gauge. Still raining here but has eased off. Lots of stuffed crops I would say not. Last night was actually a bit boring here. More like thundery rain more than a storm. Had some very solid rain but nothing extreme but still got 22mm after the storm has passes. Looks like we will have this cloud around most of the day so storms may not be around until late arvo if at all so might be areas further east where the action is today.
