Radar seems to show the band is spreading and thining out a little, i think this may be what causes the cbd and easter areas to get a little less action. i'll be happy for a couple of rumbles and 5mm at the moment, Sorry ILS we have got to have a sceptic in here to balance things out Razz

The rain radar doesn't have me jumping over the moon, but the fact that the doppler has such strong winds up in the northern quadrant suggests that is where the intense part of the band is.

Haha yeah that makes sense, I'm optimistic all the time, so I do need some moderating at times, but so far it is looking pretty good I think, as good as we can expect anyway!

Don't expect much lightning with the band, it is weakening rapidly. I'm hoping that the ranges here might help out with rain totals if it makes it here. BOM are being over enthusiastic with their SWT extending it this far east.

EDIT: OK perhaps not weakening yet, if antyhing intensifying, but moving way too slowly, by the time it gets here it will fizzle out rapidly because it will be around midnight. Rolling Eyes

The set up I like about this band is that there is still very reasonable moist NE'lys feeding into this, so it could put on quite a show, with wind, sparks and flash flooding. The line seems to be intensifying slightly again as it approaches. It's dead calm here and very muggy. Got that tropical feeling back but this is moving much faster than last weekend

Main stuff is still north I think...going on wind speeds anyway, radar not picking it up yet, should hit Eastern subs if it can sustain intensity.

Winds were quite strong when the band come through. No rainfall here apart from one or two drops. It was quite a dissapointment for where I am. There just had to be a tiny little gap between the two storms and we went right through! Suspect Damn it! Sad

Ah well. Still the chance for a rumble out this way tonight and hopefully some rain. I see other parts of the SW have already done quite well.

The band is moving SE at a fair speed. I am not sure for Melbourne at this stage.

As I said before, that storm line hit us big time, wind, rain, thunder and lightning, most of it now either lingering off the coast or slowly heading out to sea.

A pity you missed out PS, you would have loved it.

started raining here, just lightish stuff, we look like missing out on storm action now, the main activity is south of here, Bendigo might cop it soon.

Splitting up big time as it approaches here, not looking promising.

to me this looks like it will hit the Geelong area and the coast rather than the Bay Sad Melbourne may only get a trickle now

brother in Nhill, just phoned, storm was very lightning intense when it went over there, lots of CG's, he said there was some more lightning there about half hour ago but it not registering on the tracker

splitting up? hey, remember the radar and lightning tracker are not law, and there are a hell of a lot of radar holes and depending on the cloud and precipitation angle and hills, you get a lot of holes over there

raining! plenty of lightning mostly CC. Must be a big storm about 15mins before the storm system approached was spitting from return moisture from the anvils I reckon. Umbrella effect. Was mamma before it got too dark too.
