''09 sowing season
Hey all well looks like I am going to be the first to crack open this little gem so sort of like putting you name into wet cement!
Anyhoo cropping all done at my place and some is already up and away and some is just germinating now. We were very lucky to get a good storm on ANZAC day which gave us plenty of subsoil moisture but a lot of crops will need a rain on them to get going properly. Hope this thing coming tomorrow/Monday can provide some of that. Is anybody else out there????

Re: '09 sowing season
ADON have you lost any of your early sown crops? I understand that further north dry shown crops have been lost because of lack of follow-up (a classic false break). Some will have to be resown.
It looks good for your area IMHO if you look at the models (http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/watl/rainfall/pme.jsp). Suggest something like 10-25mm.

Na mate no crops lostr but some are struggling to come up though. All dry sown crops seem to be up and away around home but things could be different for other areas. We got a storm so we have plenty of moisture. Others who didn't get so much rain are still sowing or have stopped waiting for rain to start again

This event should do well for your area Adon. I imagine this would be almost the ideal time of year to get a rainfall event like this one for crop farming coming into winter with low evaporation rates until the growing season starts and further prospects of rainfall through winter.

Yeah if it comes off it would be mate. With the subsoil moisture there to work with, this would add to it and give us a buffer to work with as we go further into the season. I reckon that this could be another tough one but hopefully not as bad as the last few so having some juice already there is a real bonus.

Some excellent follow up rainfall in the NW and W agricultural regions this week with a small break ahead of more rainfall coming up over the weekend with colder weather next week.
Should see another 10-30mm in the region which would be fantastic!
