Some pretty decent wind gusts through here earlier this morning-my window has a northerly aspect and copped the brunt of it. The radar in Adelaide looks spectacular, that cloud band has blossomed massively overnight. Hopefully it peaks over Victoria in composite with the LWT moving through....

Im looking forward to not having the radar up and runnning today so we cant see how much were missing! Just like the good old days!

Spectacular winds today. Poor driver of the local tastey truck said are truck felt me like being on a boat in these winds. Quite mild outside if you can get some shelter from the winds, about 17 outside now. Had a small light shower for a couple of minutes when i first arrived at work, but seems to have dried out a bit now.

Hi Guys,

It is Justcruising from WZ here.
It's been quite a while since anything worthwhile to post about and thanks John for the invite.

Squally showers hammered our windows in Elsternwick a couple of times through the night.
Some severe wind gusts hammering the office here in Kensington at the moment.

Next 4-5 days looks like an absolute corker of a weather event and once the wind dies down a little we may start to see some pretty substantial totals of both rain and on and off snow on the hills. Might even be enough to entice me to the mountain on Sunday I think. Still Sunday is a while away and I notice the high has been drifting further east in every model run I have seen over the past few days.

Nevertheless a VERY exciting period for what has been a particularly dull year to date.
I look forward to this afternoons 00z runs and hope to see an upgrade in forecasts for once..

Action over in S.A. at the moment looks fantastsic on Radar and the Sat loop looks equally as impressive..
That is one absolute mother of a low pressure system.

Dark Clouds building up fast to my north with the very high misty tops on them. Could be a very interesting afternoon.

it's starting to line up on the western border, with hopefully some pre heating with some mild temps. prefrontal showers at ballarat... might have to get some washing off in a few mins time.

Well it's starting ahead of the rainband - look west and you'll see the lovely anvils. Not long before storms in Melbourne.

Watch out for big wind on the change.

Thought it wasn't me seeing things that weren't there! Just got back from a walk and saw it to my west, look spectacular at this time of the year.

Might go out soon and take some happy snaps! Very Happy

yeah second that Karl. Cloud has generally increased hugely in the last half hour with a dark mass to the west under those anvils. And the best thing about it is it is all developing on our doorstep. Shall be very interesting me thinks

Right now i am spewing i dont have access to my old man's SLR camera, Some magnificent cloud-scapes out there showing off the power and instability of the system. Little worried about the wind on the change, but we'll wait and see. Up to 18 and a bit here at work, surprisingly warm out of the wind.

The upslide is supporting the development of the rainband through western Victoria presently in the form of showers and storms. The wind should not alter the rainfall to much today. DPs quite high for this time of year.

light precip atm bathed in sunshine. If that current active cell at castelmaine holds its course may get a rumble shortly. Can see some weak anvils to my direct west, and to my north. Might head up the hill for a squizz in the next 20 mins

Pressure in the west dropping noticeably still. Surrounded by Cloud here, but still got nice sunshine. Quite a strange feeling in the air, temps seem to have stalled on 18 which is still more than i had really expected, should see the action kick off around the cbd in the next 40 minutes?

Keep us posted Greg. Looks like it's developing fast.

With temps up to 22C out west, not surprised.

Nice looking microburst to my northwest heading south but weakening. Very very unstable to the west in the mid levels.

just popped out to dfo essendon over looking the essendon ap, that cell coming in from the nw had a pretty high base on it with a mild rain foot on. I am interested however of everything ne of that line getting it's act together with crisp cu-cb and more organized low features.

Can hear thunder now.

Main band of storms between Mildura and Mortlake heading east. Severe winds likely with this. Melbourne may have to wait till then.
