I think I'd be lucky to have received around 1mm yesterday arvo, great to see some good falls around though.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Ended up with 6.6mm in the end so an event total of 20mm. A bit less than expect (expected about 30mm by now), but overall OK. Not anticipating much more - it is somewhat unstable today (LI near 0) but looks to me like the showers will largely confine to the northeast and west (as in the forecast). Am hoping for a few showers when the southerly becomes established Wed/Thur but anticipate showers will be pretty sparse.
Overall a bit of a frustrating system (these slow systems always are) with some areas getting repeatedly deluged buts other staying dry. BTW a real positive is some bumper falls in catchments - about 60mm in the Grampians, around 70mm in the uppers parts of the Loddon/Campaspe, about 50mm in the upper Yarra etc.

Finished with 7mm overnight bringing my event total too ~20mm so fairly useful, now on to the next system.

We calling this event over already?? Still some instability around today, tomorrow and Thursday it might not be as widespread as some people are used to getting but its certaintly not over. I'm sure someone today will get something. Nice cells over the Bay at the moment.

It's belting down here at the moment, although as usual radar not showing much, but believe me it's pouring.

10mm yesterday here, so a total of 19mm from this one. Not bad at all considering so many areas missed out.

Its not over SC.. Some nice showers looking quite beefy too developing over the top of the bay at the moment and moving into the Inner South eastern suburbs.. These showers trail back with the cloud development into the Inner Western suburbs at the moment can see curtains coming down from some clouds just west of me

Your right Johnno, I was going to say it looked fairly dark just south of my place for the last couple of hours. And yeah the radar has beefed up quite nicely.

Just a couple of mm, but so black was the sky someone under one of those showers would have been happy.
The sunrises and sets of the last week have really shown the change in seasons. Still looking promising, well better than many years of late.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Well I have had 27mm from this event which is really good follow-up falls down this way, and good to see it fall in some other good places as well. I could still manage a few more mm in the southerly winds over the next few days but signs of more good rain appearing early next week, will have to watch that one.
Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
yeah sure was dark this arvo around town. Heavy shower around 5. PS....you seem to have been getting consistent good falls the last few months. What is your cumulative total so far?
Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Well there were some very heavy showers around today and whoever was lucky enough to get under one they would have got heaps as they were very slow moving. Unfortunatly I only got the edge od a couple and ended up with a little over a mm. Looks clear here with Ely winds and cloud looking to be coming from the WSW. Oh well can't have all the luck!

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Not much to report for the last 24 hours in Ferny Creek. A chilly one yesterday - just 8.9C and down to 4.5C overnight but no recordable rainfall, fog or frost.
Still mid level northerlies so the "low" still yet to move through - LAPS has southerlies becoming established during the afternoon which is the better bet for showers. Can't see much today unless you are on the coast or get a lucky stray shower. EC has up to 5mm (some of the best in central areas) but other models generally have less than 1mm for most areas. These cold uppers slow moving system usually produce the odd heavy shower/storm so worth watching the radar all day (just in case).

Some nice Tcu off the SW coast of Melbourne which seems to be slowly moving in a NE direction. If only the temps got a couple of degrees higher we could have been in for an interesting afternoon! Even still.. some places might be lucky enough to score some heavy showers throughout the arvo.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Well a pretty interesting system, one that has frustrated but has generally provided some rainfall across many areas apart from the inner NW suburbs of Melbourne .
Looks like the bayside suburbs did OK yesterday with up to 6mm around Elwood. Otherwise lightish falls restricted to the Mornington Peninsula.
It is still fairly unstable as DJ says with isolated shower and storm activity about but there will be less than a dozen active precipitation points this afternoon over the dividing range.
Over the period it has been really a treat rainfall wise over the Trentham/Daylesford region. Again another 5-10mm yesterday afternoon bringing some stations towards the 75-80mm mark for the event which is just fantastic.
Otherwise the down side has been those inner rainshadowed suburbs of Melbourne, with less than 2mm around Sunbury to Keilor. Sad
Into the next few days it should begin to stabalise and clear, with at least one nice day Thursday. Showers will be restricted to the outer western and southwestern suburbs over the coming 48hrs in a light SSE flow through the atmosphere. TAS will ensure that Melbourne CBD remains dry.
Over the weekend to come there are signs at more fronts and showers, but I think some of these fronts will become occluded and develop into further cut offs so it will be playing weather roulette again for rainfall
I finished with 21mm for the event which in a fairly brisk northerly flow is not a bad outcome. The shower stream of Monday was the most frustrating bit of weather I have seen in some time with the rainfall curtains located to my west up to 1km away. I walked literally down the road into the showers and walked back home to spitting.. Can't win them all

Some beefy totals for showers up here last night with some lucky enough to get 15mm out of them. We got 2mm but sitting under a shower now and it's moving so slow we may get a few mm out of it.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Blackie we have had 344.8mm of rain so far this year compared to 305mm last year. We just got a real heavy shower too.
Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Down in Sandy Point (south Gippsland) on holiday for most of the next 2 weeks. Fantastic winters day down here - cold and calm but with a warm sun. Some very big Cu/Cb have sat off the coast all day and are now moving slowly towards Cape Liptrap (about 10km west of here). Looks like it will get quite wet through Gippsland - particularly east of the Prom the next 24 hours as a south/south-east flow sets in. The uppers are cold (thickness values near 536) and with the upper trough to the west this set up will be upsliding so should see some good showers, perhaps tending to rainbands. Would not be suprised to see the odd 25mm+ fall along the Gippsland coast next 24 hours.
May just sneak into Melbourne tomorrow morning (Johnoo keep an eye out for some bay effect showers). Don't expect much, but is a chance for the odd heavy shower.

Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Just got a short lived heavy shower with hail down here. Not a lot in it about 0.2-0.4mm. Lots of showers now fasting moving up on Gippsland.
