Mobile Broadband
Hi all,
I'm in the market for Mobile Broadband. Would love to get some advice from those who are either in the industry or use Mobile Broadband. The key is coverage in the country around Lake Eildon, Murray River and Cape Patterson.
Cheers
Wes

Re: Mobile Broadband
Hey Sniper,
I'm just going through the same issue at the moment at Mansfield. Coincidently I trialled a Telstra 7 Series Next G wireless router on the weekend. I connected it to an external aerial on the roof and received a medium signal strength from the Mt Buller tower - enough to get decent speed. The router isn't portable but I believe they have a USB sizes Next G card which has a port for an external aerial -whatever size you want to attach. We don't get 3G at the farm without the booster aerial.
Cheers

Cheers Blackie
I think Telstra will be the only provider that can deliver a reasonable service in the Lake Eildon area. We are in a pretty bad area for mobile coverage so broadband is going to be worse. I don;t want to have to pay $90 a month for cable if if isn't being used (unless I stream the webcam and weather station later this year)

Re: Mobile Broadband
yeah agreed. This thing will cost me about $250 plus $40 p/month for 750mg or thereabouts.
Re: Mobile Broadband
Being an expert in mobile internet, I would say the Next G internet is your only option. Unfortunately, because of your remote location, you are going to be charged a premium for it. If you want any form of useful coverage, Telstra is really the only one possible.Sniper wrote:Hi all,
