If the doppler was working that stuff over you Andrew would have been orange at least...looks very decnt little band.

Good stuff moving in from Sa atm, initially with the front and then some very stormy stuff moving thru Adelaide now which will be here late arvo or tonight..

These winds are unbelievable. You might find it interesting to go onto the CFA website and look at the current incidents. It will often give you an idea of where the most wind damage is occurring.

Can we get a northerly squall line? The line developing around Gisborne is hurtling towards Melbourne at a great rate of knots!!!

Click on animation of last 4 images to see the gaping hole in the rain, I thought it was just the radar, but its not, its my storm shield caught on sat pic.

The rain may get ripped apart but the downdraughts from the heavier falls of rain on the ranges will accompany any decaying mid level shower from the NW. This could see winds spike to 120kmh at any time.

Had 0.6mm this morning from a heavyish shower. 50 knot winds with it. No too much tree damage yet, they are holding alright through my area.

Suspect a fierce shift to NNW winds in the next hour so yes a possible 'squall line' is possible from the N ahead of the rainband. Front is coming into view behind the rainband on the 256km radar and could hold winds of 120kmh+ on it. Time will tell.

Well i finally wokeup today somewhat sleep deprived. Damn screen doors on the second floor balcony banging away, one even broke lol. This is why you dont have a balcony facing north people! Weather this morning is confusing me this morning. Even got some nice sun shining here. Debating the risks of going for a drive to see if all my neighbours in the area are ok with all the cracks and bangs i heard during the night. I think we should all keep an eye on any tree's in our areas....and move cars under cover, there is going to be a lot of debris flying around when these winds peak.

Some pretty decent convection visible north of the city. Hopefully can make it south, though the rain shadow over Melbourne has been amazing. Winds still strong here and expect some severe squalls with these stroms.

Looks as though Pt Lonsdale just copped a big squall from looking at the radar

This is awesome Daggett, absolutely tropical sort of stuff. I have water flowing right through from the top of the yard to the back and water starting to pool in the backyard. Haven't seen that for a long time.

Me neither mate, been waiting for this a while i am just happy my tanks are getting a refillas we were down to 60 percent - looks like we will get a break for a bit judging by the radar so i can go into town. Waiting for a dry moment to check gauge/tank levels but wont do it in this rain!!

What is everyone's forecast for this arvo? Much rain do you think? I am still a little bit pessimistic for the majority of the central area.

Well the radar is obviously lying. Suggesting i should be getting wet right now. but absolutely nothing here right now. Wind still up there but nothing overly scary right now. Interested to see what peoples private weather stations are doing.
