You hit the nail on the head with your prediction KL 21.7 so far, might even get above 22, what about 24 if this change doesn't hit soon? When is it predicted to come through Melb?

Winds will shift slightly milder NW behind this band of convection around 4pm. Already an increase in middle level showers so should see some colour pop onto the screens over the coming hour.
Watch to the NW.

well our forcast temp of 17C's has been thrown out the window! its shot up to 23C's here now. gone up 4C in 30min. only slight winds atm.
That band in the east looks nice from here as well.
I wouldnt be saurprised if the stuff coming down from Mildura builds up alot as it come over the central ranges. A chase might be on the cards for this afternoon i think.

Re: Springs fronts and possible low - first week of September
Nice trajectory too - right on target for Yea and it's building!
Re: Victoria: Springs fronts/lows September 1st-7th 2009
So I'm on the roof at work and can see complete glaciation of cells to the SW near the surf coast and thickening AccAs above me here extending and developing NW to cj status.
This reminds a lot of last year this time, exploded post 4pm.
Watch the western flank of that precip to our NW.

Plenty of clear air to work into in the next couple hours..... will duck up to the local look out if she goes boom.
Re: Victoria: Springs fronts/lows September 1st-7th 2009
I was about suggest the same thing Greg - get to your local lookout if stuck at work. Melbourne should see a storm or two later.
Local gusts to 50 knots possible too.

A lot of anvil cirrus to the northwest but better structure building SW from here where cells are glaciating fast.

Though these are generally mid level cells so rainfall will be low. Highest will be ~10mm if lucky

Re: Springs fronts and possible low - first week of September
Amazing how it goes from nothing on the radar with no prospects in sight to blue and yellow bits everywhere! Great stuff.
Re: Victoria: Springs fronts/lows September 1st-7th 2009
looks mostly like virga coming across, its just starting to rain now... looks unreal outside atm though. Went from bright blue to straight dark as! Drops very large. Wind has picked up amazingly as well. Moved all to quick though. if it held off for another hour or so would have been alot nicer. But rain is rain so yee hah!!!
Really coming down now...

Great hear rikki, thanks for the update. Can see the line from here clearly now, just took off the washing.... the advantage of being a weather enthusiast!!!
The line should continue on it's merry way to eastern parts then explode over the dividing range.

As Laps suggested earlier Dp's have slowly risen this afternoon example at Essendon Airport was around 4c earlier with temps around 18-19c now temp there is 22c and instead of falling the Dp as you would normally expect when temps rise the Dp has risen with it to more of a respectful 7c. Winds have also eased somewhat.

This may sound silly but I'm more interested in what's going on behind this band near Donald. Watch that region

I can't keep up with this weather sometimes. One minute quite normal sunny day at work, next a monster cell appears on the radar out of nowhere & dark clouds start rolling in overhead. Could see some action over the next hour. Fingers crossed.
