Re: Victoria: Springs fronts/lows September 1st-7th 2009
Well I am, err, happy to report thunder and a couple of flangs up my way. Just drove to Trentham in the sunny weather to look at some property in the Spitfire....and temp dropped by about 5 degrees, thunder, and I decided to drive home on the Trentham-woodend road. Now torrential rain and hail is not the best way to enjoy open top motoring as hail stones at 100kmh hurt.
My fault really as I was admiring the line of clouds coming and thinking Jane has the right idea being here as you definatly get a good view of the weather!
Lovely heavy rain on the way home and some decent flangs as well, one almost on top of me. Now only 14 degrees in Woodend, and at least 4mm so far.
Edit, it was that monster Kneton cell I was underneath, i should have taken a camera as the libe of clouds was pretty decent.

Very dark now to my north west. Getting localized reports of rumbles in the city now. Just hope it makes it to bayswater. might make my work day a little more bareable.

Well looks like the extra couple of degrees have paid off (amazed to hit 19C up here which is about 8C above average for us). Had three big rumbles up here and looks to be developing very quickly - though also moving pretty quickly. LI are now around -2 to -3 across Melbourne (about 2 higher than expected which will give these a bit of oomph).
Re: Springs fronts and possible low - first week of September
nice red core just went right over me, heaps of lightning and thunder around but it's moved off quickly

if that cell over the bay does organize itself into a supercell the SE will get smashed because it's moving so fast. Just had a short cold out flow blast here.
