There is a tornado in the top right!!!!!!!!!
Holy crap I thought you were joking! Certainly looks like some circulation on radar.
Re: Victoria: A week of fronts/lows for SE September 21st-24th 2009
It has to be one. there is too much circulation...
Re: Victoria: A week of fronts/lows for SE September 21st-24th 2009
gonna keep my eye on the Mildura radar over the next few hours, see what happens. At this stage a line of showers in the Walpeup, Ouyen area with most of the rain still over the border.

SO wish I was home right now in Mildura if that holds NW Vic Sw NSW will get smashed
If it is black 200km out it is a VERY severe storm wish I was near it surely will be dropping big hail and flooding rains and crazy winds so jealous
Watch out Remark and possibly Mildura and any crops in between
BTW last few frames that top cell has split, with a nice right mover classic supercell behaviour

I certainly do hope this event is one to remember for all the folk up in the Dustbowl Ron
Just spoke to the Old Man up on the farm at Boga, told him that it might be wise to perhaps tie down anything that is loose!

Certainly shaping up for some decent rainfall across the whole state in two seperate goes.
Looking at tonight and there is already a sense that this one is different. Ely winds across the state, very thick high level storm cirrus. Very very interesting day in SA now translating into W VIC. In the radar hole currently but should come into frame properly nearer the western border near 6pm.
I suspect 10-20mm across much of the west decreasing gradually further eastwards. But for Melbourne this is looking much better than a few days ago. Should see a period of rain and the chance of thunderstorms developing clser to midnight. 5-15mm is likely across the suburbs. Higher falls reserved for any residual thunderstorm activity.
Tomorrow afternoon looks interesting but really is a wait and see situation. Could be further widespread locally heavy rain across the state but at this time position is not clear.
Late week is looking ferocious with a series of fronts and lows with significant rain this time for mainly southern and eastern VIC.

This system to me is having a mind of it's own and the models aren't really handling all the specifics that well but there is the chance that Melbourne could score some better falls than indicated. Rainfall is stacking up and increasing from the northwest.
Can see some middle level cloud and instability (towers perhaps or AccAs) from the roof here to my north and west and even the cirrus cloud has the severe storm look about it.
Very long time since I have seen a sky like this, my mind takes me back to the early 90s, NYE and we had floods through the back of our house....

You're not wrong Karl. Seems that the positioning of the low may be more east than forecast. Radar starting to thicken up nicely.
I feel for you Twisters, but I think we may score alright down here!!

Right on Wes and the thing to watch tomorrow is how the cold air over S WA will conduct itself as it piggy backs its way into the region this time tomorrow.
And there has been a history of thunderstorms in the rainband as it moved into the N Country so wouldn't rule it out tonight.
Dean I wish I were on the riverhome in Wentworth tonight!!! Sigh!!.
@ 70kmh inflow winds!!!

Looking superb atm...expect Northern areas to accumulate big totals and excellent run off into the catchments..
Rain is steadily in fact rapidly developing to our NW and should be here within the hour..

Weird clouds this arvo. Somethig is brewing. I think some of us around melb will end up with 30mm this week. This is pre 80s "variable spring weather".
The real time sat pics cant see much, there is a blanket of high stuff hiding the action below. My critters say rain and cold. Heaps of rain in two weeks also.
Looks like it will split in two as it approaches melb, reform and slam Karl and Loo.

Plenty of 10-30mm totals across SA. This rainband is looking good coming in from the NW. I think it will slide more to the east than to the south.

Bit of steady rain at times and a few flashes about here now. The filament of storm activity stretching this way from Mildura hopefully will maintain its track. The major storm approaching Mildura looks like it might pass to our north now unfortunately.

Some cloud and wind here today but I wish there was more on the news regarding Adelaide, all they had was Toni Collette and the Brownlows, a pretty big band over the mount ATM and it seems to be going into a SSE direction.
