Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
just took the dog out for a walk after I checked the weatherzone radr thinking it would be ok - cept the radars are down aren't they! and the image i was looking at was from 7pm!!!!
She got a good bath and in the end it was rather nice walking in the deluge - would have to have been about 4mm in the down pour as most of the street drains were overflowing out into the streets and causing slight flooding.
Just going on the rate at which it was coming down and how quickly my "weatherproof" jacket soaked through I would say an orange or red patch on the radar.
Still fairly humid out which is surprising yet very comfortable for walking in the rain!

Airport radar comes back on and I am pleasantly surprised, unfortunately it means I have to postpone going to bed for about another hour, not keen on doing that on Sunday night.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.

Melbourne water stations at Rockbank, Sunshine and Deer Park all have 105mm-110mm for the month. Pretty impressive though that you've had the same rainfall as me so far this month and most of the outer eastern suburbs.
Toolern Vale has had 172.4mm for the month which is very impressive. That's about 16km NW of Caroline Springs but at the foot of the Lerderderg forest area which is very rugged terrain.

Well, shower has hit. Very gentle and boring.
Solid but only moderate intensity.
Hopefully a stream sets up overnight and tomorrow morning or that is it for here.

2.6mm for the last 24 hours in Sandy Point. Puts the event on (about) 35mm... while the month sits on a pretty average ~70mm (so OK but not great).
Bit better back home in the Dandenongs, though looks like the best of the convergence bands just missed us and went up through Olinda. I have a sneaking suspicion the Dunns Hill AWS has an intermittent blockage so may be under doing totals.
Still plenty more showers in areas with good south/east aspect - could well see the odd place get 10mm+ before it finally clears.
Has been a great week of weather - should get more like it

5mm yesterday. 35 for the system, 100.5 for the month.
Over 80mm less than Karl. 7.3klm away.. Although Im not complaining with the totals here.
Im going to use the rain gauge this month to compare to weather station as it only measures in 0.5mm which I'm a bit disappointed about.

Johno thats why I reckon averages are useless. apart for the last 10 days we had a very dry hot month and yet in the future, they will see this as a wet month. Only if they have some dedicated person go through the records would they find that all of it come in a hurry. We have had months where we have had no rain at all and on the last day we get a storm and get more than the average and officially we are above average. Otherwise to people dealing with soil, dams, gardens averages mean little.

Had 60mm since Wed, 99mm for Nov. Been an incredible fornight of rain, water actually seeping through the paddocks, but won't mean alot unless we get really good follow-up rain quickly. Now when will that be?

Southerly drizzle set in overnight giving us another 9mm taking our event total to 45mm since Thursday arvo. Baro has jumped from 1002 to 1014 hPa overnight and can see the odd clear patch to our W, so maybe only a mm or so to come today.
Sale met office advised that the catchment area to our N got 40 - 60mm last night, that will probably re-fill Lake Glenmaggie and provide more off-quota water for the cow cockies over the next weeks or so.
This event was well forecast by the models some 6 days out.

14.7 mm for Kerang and 20 mm for Cohuna since Saturday morning. Kerang actually got over 100 mm for the month which is the biggest figure for over a decade. If anyone had told me that was going to happen half way through the month I would've considered them candidates for the looney bin!
Cohuna finished with 93.3 mm for the month.

You're not wrong about that DJ. Last night when Karl mentioned Mt Dandenong got about 20mm, I was perplexed cause we had only had a spit of rain in that hour. I looked at my gauge at Ferny creek and it was .5mm. Huge difference unfortunately. It's so weird how this happens but I guess it's like Karl at Knoxfield and Shell at Boronia

Finished with 124mm for the month.
This week looks pretty standard, nothing major to report about.
Agree with John re. Next Monday onwards.

Tony I wouldn't be trusting the rainfall totals that site has been reporting. I find it's rainfall readings to be a bit all over the place at times compared to other stations or gauges in the area. My total for the month is between 100-110mm. We definately haven't had 130mm!

41mm in the end here (for the entire event). Did end up with a heavy shower at 2am or some ridiculous hour like that. I was awake when it hit and it was pretty heavy and added another 3mm or so. Looks like nearby areas got a lot more than me, particularly to the south and west of here.
Anyway happy with 110.3mm for the month. The last three Novembers now have been above average with 90.4mm last year and 104.1mm in 2007. The last two Decembers were both around the 110mm mark so let's hope that trend continues as well. It will be a stretch though. I'd expect somewhere nearer to average this month for rainfall and temps.
A lot of standing water about the place in paddocks and lower lying ground, somewhat unusual for early Summer to have this.

15mm from 9am sunday to 9am monday - methinks most of that was the downpour that me and the dog got caught in last night
