Hobart in a great deal of rainfall currently with better falls at elevation (Mt Wellington up to 56mm).

With Melbourne not getting anywhere near 5mm it is great to see other areas of the SE getting some rainfall. Could be well over 50mm by 9am tomorrow morning and 100mm for the event.

Winter of old down there!!!! Just need it here!

Huge falls there Karl already up to 130mm at Mt.Wellington last 48 hours including almost 100mm to 6am in the last 21 hours Hobart already past its June average. Seems to be raining all around us.. NSW, QLD, good falls in SA recently, Western and Northern Vic, Parts of Gippsland last weekend now Tassie but for some reason we get jack all here time after time oh well.

Looks to be another further 50-100mm easy with heavy falls also spreading to the North East of the isle come tomorrow.

Just amazing - and depressing - what ~500km can mean when it comes to weather. While Victoria's 13 year drought drags on the NSW coast is deluged and Tasmania is deluged. Hobart has a pretty interesting climate when it comes to east coast lows with the occasional thumping rainfall total (daily record for June is 147mm Shocked ). Could be an interesting place to live in a warming world as the east Australian current gets stronger and pushes south.

Must be some amazing quantities of water running off Mt Wellington ATM. Will be interesting to see what their final total becomes.

My sister and husband moved to Tasmania two months ago to continue building their home at Raneleigh which is about an hour down from Hobart and they are caught in this rain atm, it just pours every day and all the soil over the ag pipes is being washed away and they have trouble walking around the house they are building as they said the soil is so spongy and thick they just sink down into it. Not much fun living in a tin shed on the property either. We'd gladly take some of their rain if we could. Thanks for all your reports guys. Hopefully one day we'll have a system where we can rejoice in heavy downpours. We can dream Smile
