Awwww that means we will loose you from this weather deprived state
A couple of little cells developing in the western suburbs - it really is unstable still out there, things haven't moved that much.

We might be lucky enough to sneak a remnant cloud or two out this way the way the radar appears to be holding up. We had wet concrete from fog here this morning-id prefer it from rain tomorrow morning.

lol, still a long way off mate from confirming the move. The good news is that the se portion of NSW reflects upon vic to a large degree, so there will be lots of border jumping should we make the move.
I tell ya what, if this event was a friday evening, i would have jumped in the car 2 hours ago and would be intercepting at the wang..... such is life;(
Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Well, for what it's worth, just fluked a 10-15 minute heavy shower, really quite heavy in fact for bursts. Haven't checked the gauge, probably not that much in it because it was so brief but certainly a few mm I reckon.

nice one DB. 2mm here tonight. NE is going off.
Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
3.4mm from the cell. Another 3.1mm from earlier this evening and a bit of that was the night before or a couple of nights ago, I forget, hadn't checked the gauge for a while.
The cell is intensifying a little and heading towards western suburbs of Melbourne.

Still haven't lost the storm threat so some convection likely mainly inland but Melbourne a risk as the low passes through.
Good falls in the NE.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
4.7mm in the end for us. Actually rained for nearly 2 hours as little patches of rain kept sliding down the back of the clearing band. Not a drought breaker but does increase our "event" total by 500%
Can't see much today. Just the odd shower - though with things moving slowly if you get one you could get a decent drop.
Now looking forward to the weekend (PS anyone in Canberra ATM - I see the rain is moving in with surface temperatures of ~2C).

Yeah I got Jack here too, but it's better than nothing. Both the synoptic and sat look very messy this morning, I suppose it has the potential for anything of interest in the southern states today. Here's hoping!
PS. Karl, I forgot to say thank you to you and the others involved in getting this forum up and running, to you all.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Thanks Tiz,
I'm just so happy people have joined and are talking weather with us. And finally we have some weather to talk about.
Today is pretty much conditionally unstable. So slow moving showers and storms developing, more widespread near the ranges and possibly severe if diurnal heating is ample. Need it to get to 18C in Melbourne.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
well it's up to 16c here now, sun has been out most of the morning and there is just a light high cloud cover to my se but to the west and nw a mixture of lower and upper clouds are starting to build. I hope they can hold off for just a bit longer and trap in some more warmth and get thing moving later

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Very nice field of AccAs over C Melbourne currently with large winter like CBs developing over the ranges to the north and west with scattered cu elsewhere. Going to plan. Need to hit 18C atleast IMO for something a bit more active than yesterday.
Looking OK further on into the weekend Mantis for western and northern VIC and then next week should be better rainwise.

BOM are pretty much inline with possible storms throughout for the avo. Some relatively crisp cu over the western burbs.
Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
indeed the developing Cu is looking good, better heating today.
Surprisingly got a flash and rumble lastnight, one though

15mm here out of those storms last night, 25mm at Rutherglen.I was surprised at the totals as the temp usually falls to low in the evening for thunderstorm development. Looks like quite a wet spell in store for us over coming week if current predictions are to be believed, hopefully also for the western and central areas.

Unstable today over east and central districts due to upper cold air and trough.

Looking very good, some rapid development now across the cu field out there - especially over head and to the west and north. Light winds. Just past 17C and moving up to 18C. If we can crack 19C then that would be impressive.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Something is definitely brewing out this way today. Cloud has increased from the NE somewhat this morning and only feels like a matter of time before it starts dropping some rain curtains around the place. I always feel like we're in the hunt out this way whenever the weather is coming from anywhere east of North!

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
the line of cu just north of the city is starting to get into the calvus stage.... forming some fibrous tops.
Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Plenty of activity out east but nothing showing on the lightning tracker at the moment, dont think we will get much in metro Melbourne, maybe just an isolated shower or two in northern and eastern subs IMHO if it was spring or summer that extra would have kicked of plenty of activity.
