Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Very cold start the the morning, with early low cloud that seems now to have burnt off in the warming sun. Very still in bayswater at the moment. No visible cloud of interest at the moment, but interested to see what develops as the temps get up. Think we'll struggle to hit anything over 13 today if the sun doesn't hang around.
No frost in Rowville this morning, but i doubt it would have been far off. Work mates living in bayswater did report some fairly decent ice on the cars this morning.

Least it is raining somewhere DJ. Looks about the only excitement.
Yeah was still -2C at 7:30am at Yarra Glen/Lilydale and after last evenings showers there would have been a spectacular frost and black ice situation.

Well more fog this morning but has cleared already to what looks to be a beautiful day coming up. Hardly any breeze outside and some sun starting to break out. Looks like this system will not deliver much more for Vic as it seems to have died out now apart from the odd shower around the place.

Significant cloud developing now. Nothing overly impressive, but faster moving than yesterday, and looking like it has the potential for a couple of spots atleast. Sun still peaking through from time to time keeping the chill out of the air. Surprisingly we have managed to crack the 14c mark.

A few isolated showed likely about the ranges aided by topography this afternoon. The atmosphere has warmed a little since yesterday so tops won't be so high and the trigger has dissolved.

John, The BOM T/S chart also supports your comment.
There comment is "There is a risk of thunderstorms over the
sea off the Gippsland coast".

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Yeah certainly didnt have any hopes of much more than showers today, which definitely are starting to kick off in the west. I think the eastern burbs probably wont see much more than a few drops before about 4-5 this afternoon, after that, not at all sure what we'll see. Really wishing the melbourne radar was fixed right now, but the vic wide radar view seems to be showing the start of something.

Thanks Johnno, That stuff near lillydale is visible to my north, quite a dark cloud band forming there, also some smaller dark clouds forming between here (working in bayswater) and ferntree gully, should start seeing some small falls in the next 30 mins at this rate. wonder if i left my car window down

Looks like the heavens will open up here in Doncaster, went for a walk earlier and noticed the cloudband to the north west of me trying its hardest to form an anvil, then kinda collapsed. Took a photo of it but won't be able to upload it until I get home tonight.

Just looked at the sky west of me and it's quite dark, there's quite a big rain shadow also so hoping this will hit my area soon and doesn't die.
Wow @ hail in Broady, wasn't expecting that!

Been spitting here in Bayswater for about 10 minutes now. Just enough to make you feel that little bit colder. Very dark clouds to my north west looks like a bit of potential wetness there.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
Hmmm. Another rather unstable day today, with quite a bit of cloud developing here, no showers yet but a few of them are trying to get an anvil together! I dissagree with the BoM T/S chart, I would have put chance of a weak thunderstorm in the NE. It's the most unstable up there on the ranges thanks to topography and I think there is the slight chance of something producing a strike or two. But no storms elsewhere, just locally heavy showers.
A fantastic day today, a sunny start with some fog, then cloud this afternoon similar to Tuesday afternoon.

Had one quick shower pass by with the "old fat rain" but apart from that nothing

cold foggy day here today. the fog hung around till past noon and now convective showers are around but very weak. Nice tops on some but weak with high bases and angled updrafts. Very cold over night. @ 11pm it was 1deg C! Frost this morning.

Re: Victoria: Low Pressure System. June 21st-27th 2009
A couple of photos from today...
These two photos were taken looking to the NW, was an anvil-looking thing which kinda spread out and flattened. Taken at about 2pm.
This one was taken at 4:30pm looking NW again, showed how dark it got but unfortunately not much rain came out of this.

Well another day... another tease. Just 0.2mm today. Looked rather wet around Box Hill on the train - second day in a row that that areas seems to have done pretty well, but mostly dry once you got near the Dandenongs.
