Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Back to the weather (though do feel for you Johnoo and co... those are crazy low figures)...
1.4mm overnight to 6am in the end. Another case of lots of attempts to rain (TBRG shows rain on ~6 occasions, but just never got going. 14mm for the weekend so right in my 10-20mm forecast (hey don't always get them right so have to crow when I do ).
Is a front of sort moving through Mt Gambier ATM which moves into central Vic mid arvo. This should introduce showers across the state and maybe even the odd storm again. Apart from this system, overall very messy with showers/drizzle widespread but mostly light. Best chance for showers around Melbourne during the arvo.
Best falls again likely on the northern slopes and SW and possibly south Gippsland.
PS great to see more good falls around Macedon, northeast, upper Yarra etc (key runoff regions).

Had 30mm so far so, probably more than I expected from this system, but always do well in these setups with light drizzle at the moment.

7mm total for here from Friday till this morning. About what I was expecting, although looking at the radar at times yesterday I was hopeful of a few more mm, but it kept just missing us to the North and East.
Models seem to indicate about the same for today. But as always fingers crossed for some unexpected action.

Sky looking mighty unstable, and the radar is comfiming this. Cells popping up including one due south of the CBD.
Hopefully we all get some activity today.
Will post events and photos of trip to Lake Eildon later tonight

Lots of decent showers now popping up. That one just east of the city looks very nice, and the line extends back to the northwest toward Ballarat. Viz satellite pic shows extensive Cu development back through the whole of western Victoria (while heavy showers associated with the front trail along the coast).
Next few hours are going to get interesting.

Have to agree there. Lot of unstable skies out there and watching those nice clouds drift by down SW and NE

Another 4mm here this morning bring our total to 36mm for this weekend. Rain has been light but constant today and the ground is completley sodden.

Yeay Mel!
Hope it buckets down over there! As for here, dark to the south and scuddish to the west, does look unstable out there though - hoping for something out my way.

pouring in Sth Melbourne...that band from the west looks good but may miss the city looking it its trajectory
Re: Follow-up Rain (Low and Fronts): July 10-14 2009.
Yeah it also looks like its weakening as it approaches my area wouldn't suprise if it would evaporate to nothing once it gets & get nothing again or move south of here and the city as you suggested Blackie

Hi all, it's touch and go as to if that rain on the radar will hit me here in Sunhine, it's currently raining but not excactly heavy. Looks like the main stuff will only just miss. Not sure whats happening back home.

Looks to me like the radar is over reporting for this event. Considering all the yellow the best fall in the metro area is just 3mm so far today. Hope to be proved wrong (as a lot of gauges are about to be hit).

Been raining here on and off since about 2pm. 2mm so far. Not a huge amount, but great to see puddles around the place. Currently 10.6C after a max of 14.1C just before the rain started. Closest PWS reports 3.8mm (roughly 3km away from my gauge!)

Woo hoo, just had our 1st flash and crash here, not much rain yet. It's been a long time coming, looks like it might be a one hit wonder as it has intensified as it went over.
