Getting eerily dark at work to the south and west. What's the bet it'll unleash itself just in time for my drive home!! Not that I'm complaining at all, but it seems thats the way it rolls in my life. Razz

The eastern burbs might do quite well out of this with small patches of red forming in the line that just passed over Richmond, might be some good hail in it too.

Another good bank of activity for the catchments moving through, even though most suburbs are missing out. Should be some good falls of 10mm or so as its moving pretty slowly..

Showers and thunderstorms are moving fairly slow at the moment so some handy falls expected underneath them if you can get under. Expect this activity to continue for the most part of this evening and tonight, with this activity redeveloping in the west tomorrow afternoon with a trough, better chance for storms too tomorrow IMO.

Is suddenly looking very promising (and largely missed by the progs). Lots of back-building on the bands and with them trailing could well see some 10-20mm falls pop up through the eastern burbs - looks particularly good for the southern Dandenongs ATM Smile

Showers still trail back to the border so more to come overnight, though anticipate it will weaken over land as the "front" moves through.

Shame (again) about those western burbs and city - just totally out of luck (maybe something in the southerlies come Wed/Thur??

Well Essendon Airport has had 6mm which is only 6ks North of me and laverton 3mm so at least some of the Northern and Western burbs are getting abit this time round but barely a mm here oh well at least its raining somewhere.

Perhaps DJ Wed and thurs by see something bit better out this way.

Off the topic some long range forecaster is going to be on channel 7 news doing long range forecast for Melbourne from what I saw before he may be fake or geniune either way just letting you guys know if you want to see it should be on soon.

Wow! As soon as I said "maybe I should head off before the downpour comes" I walked outside and the heavens opened - and boy did they open!!

Was soaked just by walking to the car (which was 200m away), and poured all the way home. Some good rain, lots of runoff down the driveway! Very surprised by this rain, wasn't expecting much. Very Happy

First of all, i didn't mean for my post to cause an argument! Johnno, I know as a gardener, dryness is not good for you. My original intention was that whether you live in the city or country, we are all in need of rain, I am happy for a dry summer as long as we can get back up rain sometime. Yes I am selfish, but in a drought we all get a bit selfish don't we?

Also, a phrase like follow up rains almost means nothing here anymore. But anyway! We had a very nice heavy downpour at Tarneit just before 4pm. Not sure how much fell but it was quite intense. Here, not sure how much fell but I don't think it was as much as down there at tarneit, but at least things look good damp! I must say today felt quite springlike, warmish day out in the sun, then the cold came with the rain. I wouldn't have called it a winter feel!

Lastly can I apologise to you Mantis if you felt anything I said was offensive to you. Neutral

Well managed to stay under some moderate to heavy rain tonight for a reasonable time! Just over 9 mm in the gauge for today, great to see puddles!!!!! Some interesting cloud formations today, great to see.

Should i expect any more tonight, looks to be clearing behind this?

Tony you haven't done anything wrong mate your just calling it as you see it as I was I was preety much backing you up. Its been a very frusterating few days for me and was venting it out seeing everyone else bar us here getting good rainfall and not just with this system of late in general in the end its great and am happy for everyone but I wouldn't be human if I didn't want some here as well to help things out.

I apolgise as well if I got abit upset last night but I have a saying whats good for the goose is good for the gander basically what I'm saying us city folk understand how hard it is when things are bad in the country but seems like when we complain down here we get told off for it and was just standing my ground and pointing a few things out while I was doing it pointing out there alot of City farmers on Melbournes western outskirts and vegtable farmers out this way as well anyway no one controls the weather expect the weather gods and at the moment for some reason we are getting very little around here.

Just gets very frusterating when you wait for months & years of dry sequence of weather to end with no moisture from the NW or lack of fronts or strong highs and when finally the patterns breaks down & still doesn't rain out this way and can't take advantage of it it makes you see red & can't be part of the joy and happiness that most other Victorians are experiencing at the moment anyway thats life and we move on we have no choice unfortuntly.

Know how you feel Johnoo and these systems must severly annoy you guys in the burbs at times. I know I can get severly annoyed at systems coming from any direction but a northerly direction but in the end I know you guys will get more cold fronts with nice solid showers that add up to a nice total. Us on the nth slopes are having a good run at the moment but your time will come and I will be sitting here thinking, Why Can't We Get Rain Like That Here, bloody southeners!! lol!

Well been a good weekend up here with 16.5mm and some good showers in the area today. Some were pretty heavy showers too so I reckon there could be some 25-35mm totals around. The seasin just keeps rolling on and keeps looking better as we go. Happy as a pig in sh*t up here atm!
