Tropical Heatwave
Not sure if we have many northern Australian's here - but ATM we are experiencing one of the most significant tropical heatwaves I have seen. Many sites in NW WA and NT have been running at near record or record highs for the whole week.
High numbers so far are...
TIMBER CREEK 36.1C on the 29th
KIDMAN SPRINGS 37C on 30th
NOONAMAH 37.0C on the 1nd
KURI BAY 36.8C on the 2nd
The Australian record for July is 37.6C in Wydham in 1996 (and Wydham 37.3C in 1995). Will be interesting to see if these numbers fall in the next day or two. Is an interesting observation that the three most significant heatwaves at this time of year have all happened since 1995...

Re: Tropical Heatwave
Interesting to see 850Ts into the mid teens tomorrow in parts of SA. The extremely warm air of last week, has cycled back around the tropics/subtropics (after setting near record highs in parts of WA Tues/Wed/Thur - eg MEEKATHARRA 27.4C today against a record of 28.8C) and is now plunging south into SA.
