First spots of rain hitting now, looks like it will only be a 5 minute even here, but clouds showing great potential, and conditions looking good for the next hour or two depending on a few variables. Temps are dropping fairly fast, but still a very hot, stuffy feeling to the air. Wishing i wasnt stuck in the office for another 2 hours.

Very muggy here today and with a light seabreeze plus ominous looking clouds, methinks we could be in for an interesting evening.

Just drove thru Bacchus marsh. Incredible activity out here. Cars pulled over due to heavy rain- and i mean heavy! Eased slightly now, but would say at least 10-15mm here in the past 1/2 hour or so.

Can hear lots of distant rumbles from Mt Dandenong direction here, but nothing here, though the sun has gone in.

Despite the fact there is a lot happening up to my north, in Tarneit here at work, it still is dry and we haven't hear any thunder or seen any lightning. Not sure if anything will reach down here either.
Caroline Springs was on the edge according to the radar so while I don't think anything has fallen there, I would say a heavy shower may have fallen up near taylors hill.
Melton and bacchus would have seen some nice rain!

Dry here again at the moment. Can hear the distant rumbled towards lillydale.Looks as though its all drying back up for now. Wave two could hit around 5:30 6 if we are really lucky =P i will be crossing my fingers at any rate.

Awesome!! Looks nasty out that way from here. Anyone hear reports of fire / smoke coming from the Dandenongs? Lightning strike perhaps?

With one foot out the door, i stepped back in to sit and wait.
Will be interesting to see what happens after dark, however if it's not today, then there's always tomorrow..... been a long time since we said that!

There is a planned back burn in Mt Dandy today. Around Ferny Creek I think.

Re: Victoria: Thunderstorm Outbreak. October 28th-November 3rd 2009
It was really weird outside here. There is a burn off in my road, Hilton Road in Ferny Creek, that's down the end in the bush and the wind must have changed cause all the smoke was coming from the NE over us here so it's all smoky. The smoke in the air combined with the clouds was making the sky look bushfire brown. The thunder made the whole scene look even weirder. The rain is now pelting down here.

Can see lightning from the Monbulk cell from the kitchen window.

GFS Stormcast on the mark for today, nothing too severe and just north/east of Melbourne.
Tomorrow is a far different situation. Latest Stormcast (link below) shows a wide tongue of -4 Li's, with some -5 LI's around this time tomorrow!!
