Was it Rob Gell quoted last night saying 10 - 15mm for the city? Gee good call that. Any idiot with a basic understanding of the models and sat pcis etc could see we would get more than that.
Yeah the minute he said that I put a post writing off his poor prediction. That was at a time where Laverton had already had about 8.5mm in about 90 mins.

Ballarat back online after being down since 6am. Rainfall jumped 20mm in that time. DJ is spot on, 20mm with this band with higher falls likely with this line getting more and more defined.
Edit: Sheoaks up to 7.2mm in 15 mins.

Wow look at that band approach from the west!
Closing in on 50mm here after checking the gauge again. Tony my street backs onto Kororoit Creek so I might go for a walk later when most of this clears.

Just drove to Bullengarook and back. Nothing spectacular but there was a large lagoon near the recreation reserve so I guess you'd call that flash flooding.
Anyway, very heavy rain most of the way back, a bit on and off but very solid.Bullengarook about to get another thumping. Hopefully that line holds its strenght through here and back builds north because it is threatening to slip south a bit.
A bit boring but here's the wettest part of Bullengarook atm, nice little swampy lagoon, not something we tend to see a lot these days with all the drought we have had. Thought it was a pretty nice scene

Well not as much as some but still 38mm's to 9am not bad. Highest 24 hour total here since 50.8mm's fell on December 13 last year. Have cracked 600mm for the year now as well which is more than last year. Still a long way to go to reach the yearly average of 816mm's. Looks like a bit more to come as well. Good falls around the state but some areas didn't do so well, Coldstream near Lilydale only had 15mm's and some parts of the western district had less than 10mm. Good to see the the drier NW suburbs did well with some suburbs getting over 50mm's.

What's going on with you Avatar? Seems to be distorting?
changed my avatar to a volcano I went to, pics are great, showing the other who missed out how heavy the rain is. I just got back from a walk to the shops and the buildings in the CBD are covered which is a shame because as that rain band gets closer I think it would have a WICKED guster on it. It keeps intensifying as it approaches too. Pre rain band has started and it's getting quite heavy, I think we're going to get smacked. If the radar is under estimating like it was last night.

103mm, official 24hr total at Trentham. Who says we don't get heavy rain in Central VIC. (QLDers always going on about it)

33.5 mm in the gauge this morning up here in the north. Reports via Facebook of between 33 and 41 mm in the area which is a great general soaking. Those red dots on the map up in the catchments also augur well for improved irrigation allocations as a result.

Nice moderate shower in Oakleigh just now with the sun coming out, wasn't expecting that
Hopefully some clearance ahead of this trough to get some happy snaps.

That 100mm in Trentham should create a nice inflow into Upper Coliban Dam.
There is some SE wind off the bay before the rainband. That will likely supercharge the rainband as it closes in....

Its going to be ballistic here very shortly, sun has come out and can see the most amazing black bases on the mid level deck...easily another inch in the next 2 hours..

The squall line is gaining strength!
Heads up for the eastern suburbs of Melbourne for intense flash flooding. The warm bay is likely to intensify the line heaps, could end up massive.

just had a brown out, it's getting very dark here. I don't think it was lightning related though
There really should be a severe squall warning out for the bay!!!

doplar shows it pretty well.... will be interesting as it passes over the bay.
Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Winds are not overly strong with this line so no Squall Warning. Appears to be splitting. Mornington Peninsula to get best out of this.
Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Another good shower passing over before the main event, once again nothing spectacular on radar over me at this point in time, man this line is going to be nuts

This next band looks good, jst had a mew mins of no rain to go outside check the tanks (all full), pump about 200l into the hot tub to keep the timber soaked (now very very full) and put the cover on....now 36mm for today, might even crack 50mm before this is over any more would be a pain as the guage is broken just above 50.

The line is reintensifying again now. Good drop just then, line up near Macedon looks quite intense.
Sun is out as well, first time in a while!!!
Might help to strengthen this line
Edit: Weakening again!!

Just remembered that I emptied the gauge last night with 5.4mm in it so the 32mm I recorded early this morning was in addition to that. Since then I have had another 9.1mm, so I've actually had 47.2mm now for the event. It's just getting better and better.
