There was Accas around here too at sunset, some of those showers are trying their hardest to edge in but look to be weakening out before they can reach any real respectability in intensity and size.

Still looking like a decent shower near Healsville heading straight for me. It has the potential to be a little thundery as it does appear to be self supporting and not pulsey.

Well the latest sounding from the BOM shows there's a little bit of CAPE around but a huge inversion near the surface.. It feels like it could warm up quite a bit during today and there's a chance of a few showers around this arvo. I can already see some nice Cu down towards the SW near the coast. Anyone think there might be a few more pulsies around later on?

Hi Hinezy.
I think the inversion and weak diurnal heating will supress tall convection. The trigger is also weaker and moved off to the east.
Mildura did ok with 7mm overnight

Hi everyone, well its absolutely bucketing down here atm, early morning the sun was shining and very frosty with pockets of fog. Rain came from the south east I think? Most unusual. Cold with fog still hanging around.

Good to hear SS!! I'm assuming your out in the east of the state?? Some convection here but precip is visible in the form of anvils off in the east.

lovely day to be home crook with flu. some nice convective cloud around here, good crisp tops fairly high base though. At least it is something. Rather mild out too.

That's no good Typhoon. I hope it isn't swine flu . Man there are a lot of bugs going around at the moment.
Well some of the cloud and showers are drifting slowly NW and making it into E Central regions. It won't make it to Melbourne but may help increase the fog potential tomorrow.
Looking good for the weekend if EC is to go by.

Re: Victoria: Low pressure system. June 12th-16th 2009.
Another one of those days where there was afternoon convection here and locally heavy showers.. Was an interesting day.
Further ahead, this weekend does look good, EC showing a front to actually slide through, then both GFS and EC pushing in a major cut-off low, and its a slow moving one too, only thing is, is that it better make it to Vic before filling in too much. Anyway, at this early stage things are looking good with rain likely to develop over the west of the state on Monday, increasing generally over western areas on Tuesday, possibly extending further east. Long way out but its likely to be a low occur, just depends on where and how strong/weak..

Re: Victoria: Low pressure system. June 12th-16th 2009.
Looks like some heavy slow moving showers down through Sale and the LV this arvo, could see the Cu tops from here at uni looking Eastwards. 7mm @ East Sale hopefully corresponds to the same amount at home. Very hit and miss these easterly setups-same thing happened the other week where Sale got close to an inch whereas Maffra 15 mins to the NW got zilch.
Just nothing weather here in Melbourne.

Doppler still out of action. The Airport radar keeps dropping out during windfinding times. Lucky not much action around.
Most charts agree it should be windy this weekend, just a question about when and how much shower activity we might get.

Whats up with all the colours? Suppose I better join in Might also mention that JMA is looking not too shaby at the moment for Sunday onwards.
Re: Victoria: Low pressure system. June 12th-16th 2009.
I think they are still playing with the format of the site. I can't see the select forum slider bar thingy that was at the bottom of the topic. I could yesterday I think, but I could be dreaming.
Had a look at NOGAPS about next weekend. Looks pretty unexciting to me. Lot like this weekend just gone from what I can see, the low winds up, then disappears as it moves over land.
What is the link to JMA, or is it another name for one of the common models? I probably have it, but can't seem to place it....

We are just trialling some colours at the moment and one uniform colour will be chosen so carry on... It won't last long. There is a colour option on your post page.
There was a meaty tower at about 4pm smack over the hills this afternoon which nearly went all the way.

Which hill Karl?
BTW some nice showers through Gippsland ATM which should see plenty of 10-30mm falls by morning. I would anticipate these contracting east in the next 24 hours as the upper trough pushes east. The airmass is cooling over eastern Vic ATM so will be a pretty cold rainy night.

no rain at all here for the weekend. Went up to Mt Hotham yesterday and enjoyed a warm sunny day, awesome early skiing with little comp for the lifts!!! Hoping next weekend is better for all.

I like the larger fonts as well, makes it muich easier to read. Mostly because there is less on the page so it's easier to absorb what you are lookin at.
Dark here... Not wet.

Thanks Luken, yep I think it's easier to read now too. Thanks for being so specific about your location too
Re: Victoria: Low pressure system. June 12th-16th 2009.
I know that area of Mitcham really well!! Certainly one of the wetter spots in Melbourne too away from the Dandenongs, situated on the bounce zone there.
Anyhow it is dark and dry here yes... though a good fog should develop in the early hours with light winds and higher moisture profile thanks to the showers in Gippsland and easterly winds.

I really like Mitcham, been here for a couple of years and in Blackburn South before. Very nice areas. Green, and quiet. Pity they are getting so expensive, can't afford to buy here.
Decent fog here, but im sure I have missed the worst of it, tucked up in my nice warm bed. Ahhhhh the beauties of working from home!

Re: Victoria: Low pressure system. June 12th-16th 2009.
The usual East Gippsland suspects did well out overnight. Point Hicks & Mallacoota picking up 23mm & 19mm respectively.
Onto the next system!
