Well it is not just based on LIs Andrew but diurnally there could be a left over risk - we shall see but I think it is a very low low risk...
Rain drops quite large here and a period of showers looks nice right on nightfall...
Nice picture Seb.

Band thickening over the burbs as expected (this happen about 80% of time with these set up). Was at Dunns Hill when the roll cloud came through - just amazing watching this cloud roll over 50-100m above the tree tops. Will post photos shortly.

Thanks mate
7mm in the gauge from the storm. Given that, in this day and age, any rain can perhaps be classified as good rain, I am very happy with that drop!

A bit interesting to see the line reorganising itself and backbuilding just in the last few radar frames and just in time for it to approach here. Still I have a terrible knack of mozzing these things so I'll shut up.
From here I can see very impressive development to the S and SW atm and absolutely nothing north of west.

Gettning heavy rain here last ten minutes, about ~2mm in quick time and still coming down. About 4mm for the day and another 2-5mm possible here.

Yeah, as usual the line weakens, rebuilds right as it approaches and then weakens right out again literally kms away. South half of the sky is black north side is completely clear and we miss out again. If we hadn't had such good rain the last couple of months with a very major event ahead this week I would be very annoyed.

A period of heavy rain but no thunder (at least that I heard). About 4mm for the day - looks like the best of this bit missed to the south by a couple of km's.
Nice to get normal September rainfall after the last 3 duds.
PS latest EC has 80mm for us the next week

Second lot of rain pushing through here, looks like we could get possibly 4-5mm by the end of it. Excellent follow up to the 16mm from a few days ago.

North east is interesting as there is that line towards Kilmore, looks great but we are right between them. I noticed some promising builup to the west though.

Just got back, interesting drive. Hinzey went to Franskton, i decided that traffic was not in my goal setting for the day, so decided to head sth instead towards You Yang / Werribee as the second line came through. tried to get it's act together, bit of a guster, but fell apart pretty quickly as it approached the western burbs. I then proceeded to Baccus Marsh, got hammered by the next band after that.

Scoring another nice drop, maybe another mm. No thunder .
Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009

CC observed with a slight rumble.
Edit: Steady rain with another CC and closer rumble. Cell around Warrandyte/Kangaroo Ground.

5mm here for the day, just under 1mm this morning and the rest from this evening. Looks like we'll have a few more minutes of light rain then that will be it. Piggy in Mt Evelyn is rubbing my nose in the storm they're experiencing at the moment, been looking good over Lilydale/Mt Dande way

Visible flashes from that cell to the north-east. Bright but infrequent

Re: Victoria: Statewide Rain/Storm Event September 16th-19th 2009
Hello all,
my first post here - thanks to a few posters on WZ that pointed me in the right direction!
I live in Bundoora and enjoyed the brief show that came through the northern suburbs about an hour ago. I noticed the build up to the west in the hour or so beforehand and even saw possibly the world's shortest ever turkey tower at about 4.00pm!
The line that came through had an embeded storm that included extreme rain for about 2mins which was probably the 'black' on radar that another poster mentioned. There were also 2 strong CG's that landed I estimate south of the Metropolitan Ring road in Bundoora and then 3-4 cloud to cloud strikes as the line moved eastward.
Good stuff

I am glad everyone is having some fun with the storms, most people that is.
Thought I would just mention we should see isolated afternoon showers again tomorrow with the chance of further isolated afternoon thunderstorms if everything goes to plan. Atmosphere is remaining quite unstable.
BTW, we had 30mm for this past event. 20mm on the 17th, and 10mm on the 18th.
