That band seemed to have avoided Avalon, which isn't rare.
Good sign that the temps are in the increase, Geelong Ap and Avalon back uo aronud 17-18. BOM's TS chart puts us with a chance for some activity this afternoon. Pretty much a line from Bendigo/Shep south.

16mm here and still raining. Heaviest rain I have seen in years! 10mm in 10mins. Rainfall rate of 100mm/hr for about 10 minutes.
Plenty of flash flooding locally.

we just had a enormous but shortlived shower, gutters were flooding, street was temporarily like a river etc - always a great time to rush out and observe where the drainage isnt very good!
The garden and everything just lapping up this rain

Live in Knoxfield Michelle - incredible rainfall between 11:30 and 12:45. Sat in the sweet spot. I'm just shocked at how much it came down.
Lovely sunshine now and towers are rising to the west and north. Mammatus to my east.

Yes I see on your profile Knoxfield, was thinking you may have been somewhere else today with the difference in totals, I was at bunnings bayswater when it started with light rain maybe 11.45. strange.. very..

Amazing total there Karl. That cell went red right over you. I had to check WZ to see if any CC/CG appeared, but alas not!!
Beautiful, sunny conditions now. 3/8 cloud cover. Temp up 2 degrees in the last 30mins. Maybe, just maybe a chance of a rumble later!

Wow, we had 12mm with that lot! Managed to get under a few yellow blobs, I knew it was alot of rain but didn't expect quite that much! Big puddles everywhere, gutters were overflowing and the flat spot in the backyard looks like a lake. I knew it would rain today but was expecting maybe 5mm or so at best

I sat under the convergent zone judging by the cloud and radar observation for about 20 minutes.. Similar falls experienced at Viewbank and Plenty. Reports coming through of flash flooding along roads in the region - no thanks to roadworks.

Heard on the ABC yesterday that this spring is a return to the springs of old. And here I was terrified that the tap was going to be switched off suddenly like it is every other year but in saying that I hope I have not jinxed the rest of the spring!
Re: Victoria: A week of fronts/lows for SE September 21st-24th 2009
Right on Lily!! That's awesome. So it seems that every km you travel south from around here you loose a mm!!
Still lots of water about... Lovely sunshine though!!

Given we sit in a line between Viewbank and your place Karl, I suspect Doncaster East may have jagged 11-13mm. Which means wet woofers!!!
Should be dry for the drive up to Eildon tonight.
Edit: Maybe Luken can confirm falls in the area, given he is a Mitcham lad!!

Do you girls and guys remember the mass storm event in November, 2003, the Hawthorn floods in January, 2004 or the storms during February, 2005 and also in 2006? Then there was the mass flooding event on December 20, 2007. Great times.
Looks like the band is moving straight for the Thomson. Hope it doesn't weaken much until it passes through there.

Re: Victoria: A week of fronts/lows for SE September 21st-24th 2009
LOL Karl, seems that way, luckily I brought the puppies inside before they frolicked in the puddles & mud (a favorite past-time ). Strange that Scoresby is only showing 3.4mm, it was an absolute downpour here. Wonder what Lilydale has recorded, it looked to get pretty heavy out that way.
Edit: Bobman, the storms on Dec 3, 2003 were the ones that flooded our home. Our garage filled up with water to about 1.2m, then eventually burst the rear external and internal doors. Our home was completely flooded and we found full 4lt bottles of weedspray that used to live in our garage had been washed down the rear side of the house, around the back and had landed in the far rear corner of the yard. Travelled about 30m from where they were stored on shelves in the garage!

Looks like they (they being the AWS sites) picked the rainfall gap around Scoresby AWS which isn\'t in scoresby anyway, but it extends to Dunns Hill. I wonder how DJ went?? I suspect less than here but you never know, the flow was slightly ESE.
I believe it's still at the Horticulture Research Institut on Burwood Hwy/Scoresby Rd. I think it's still there but judging by rainfall it could be inside.

I just got home from work and man was there some water gushing down those streets earlier, awesome. It's now clear and sunny and the sun is hot, it's got a good bite to it. Maybe be some sparks later if it keeps heating up like this.

Haha mate, I was pretty much in the centre of the Hawthorn floods of 2004 or was it the February 2005 event, haha my mind is at a loss. Anyway, my road was a river (literally) water was streaming down at a phenomenal rate and the entire front and back yards were flooded. The local tennis court was under 1m of water as well as the car park. A lot of damage was sustained there and they had to replace 3 entire tennis courts.
Glenferrie road was a river as well.
Here's some photos, I'm sorry to be off-topic but where should I post?
That's not me in the last photo btw, just thought I should edit it but look at the 4WD in the background!

That's the one. Great shots. I was there as well and got a heap of photos.
It was on January 29, 2004. Fire trucks from as far as Deer Park, Greensborough, Newport and Keilor East all attended the Glenferrie and Burwood Roads area. What an afternoon!

Oi, no pm'ing photos, you need to share lol! Maybe in the photography area?
Amazing pics, floydlove, wish I had thought to get our camera out at the time. We were too busy moving furniture and trying to push water out our backdoor (which was a pointless exercise we realised in the end).
Karl, I didn't realise that's where it was. It's hardly Scoresby there, more like FTG.
