Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Moderate to Heavy rain here now, not a lot of lightning a couple of rumbles earlier.
Don't want too much rain right now with all the crops waiting for harvest and possibly downgraded if this continues...
Rain lightening off now as i type... The cell that has raced past Ararat may be a chance for Jake?

Hate to say it but it is definitely weakening through the middle areas now...just hope it can restart itself! It is bloody humid enough.

nah, i think the lightning tracker has momentary rests, since the static on the radio has not calmed at all

Yep, it's basically all over now for storms. Just a band of general moderate intensity rainfall to come through Melbourne although likely to weaken as it heads east IMO.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
This band may be weakening but it is breaking the inversion that has plagued the convective fields today. Once it moves through then we are in a risk for the remainder of the night and into tomorow.
Keep an eye on the activity piggy backing into E SA.
Also I think a second band will fire up closer to Melbourne and this could produce something a little more substantial.
I must say that storm over the Grampians has developed into a nice squall sequence. The potential for destructive straight line winds is high with this.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Well it has hit the arid part of Melbourne so we will wait til it gets here - If I get 25mm its a fizzer
Be glad everyone it is raining!!
EDIT: That line over the western plains is now classified in my books as a dangerous storm system
Also looks to be building again this line..

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Sorry Lily and everyone, that may start to happen from time to time... We have crossed over 10000 posts on the site and so it may be about to break!! LOL!!!
Again anyone on that line towards the west, that is a dangerous storm system.
And also for Melbourne, the more active storms may follow the band of thundery rain. Just like the storms to the west, we could also have some chance of seeing some locally severe cells, so not over yet.

As i thought, Geelong area has close thunder and lightning...as what I can see is in that direction. We getting light rain, may get moderate, but thats all here I guess.

No worries Karl, no need to apologise. I'm loving ILS's optimism The air is so wet and heavy, something's gotta give, right?

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Winds to 100kmh in the Stawell region and reports coming through from friends of trees down in the region. Some small hail also reported and flash flooding. So tight rainfall gradients likely there..
Looking more and more promising!!!

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Hopefully Lily, but we aren't always lucky!
Feels as though we are due though here anyway! If we don't get something now, there is every chance we will be awoken by pouring rain sometime during the morning anyway!

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Keep watching also the northern component of the squall line that is going through the southern part of the western district. There are scattered convective falls developing on the northern side and a more than likely chance of seeing this develop further and spread mainly over the western side of Melbourne.
This has the potential to be more active than this band.

Well, it is developing further now which really has my interest. We're getting heavy patches of rain interspersed with light, interspersed with moderate and now some thunder!, not just rumbles this time a crack of thunder.
