Rain just started here again thanks to a small band that's heading north-east.

Hi guys, just thought I would mention if you weren't aware that there are a few severe fires burning out of control up in NSW as we speak. Apparently a fair few properties are under threat up there and the temps are above 42 degrees in some places with very strong north westerly winds...

Have not done the best here, but still 19.4mm is great and I am so glad for other areas to see fantastic falls, including you John, 70mm, well done mate you deserve it!

Looking more stormy this time, particularly late week. More warm to hot temperatures but very steamy going by progs with tropical moisture coming straight down. If anyone's game to start a new thread feel free.

Some amazing totals down there for you guys.
Rainfall varied alot up here. Bendigo AP had 21mm, Whilst K'Flat (SW Bendigo) had 32mm and Epsom (NE Bendigo) had 29mm. THen out at my house, SE of bendigo by 17km we had 13...
Rain bands were very localised, and you had to be really under one to benefit from it. But still, rain is rain. Would have been a nice to get some runoff's into the dams before summer really starts, as the dam is sitting on about 15% capacity atm. But ah well. To next week!

Thanks Jake, Saw your comments Wes & Floyd I expected this this always happends when I go away.
Kororoit creek is 3 times larger than normal Tony saw it on the way back home from my trip around 230pm as my other half lives in West Sunshine, its the largest I have seen it the past couple of years and there are some trees engulfed in the water so it has expanded alot and running strongly.
Moonee Ponds creek was also flooded in parts especially around the Flemington/Kensignton areas.
Another 2mm from that blob that just moved NE takes me to 72mm for this event purely amazing!!

I reckon the Maribyrnong would have to be pretty high too atm. Pretty much took the brunt of this system with widespread falls of 60-80mm occurring right throughout the catchment from the ranges to the bay.

Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Just a shade under 91mm here which is insane. The heavy pre-low rain last night between 9-10pm dropped near 30mm. That certainly caused flooding in the lower areas south of ferntree gully road.
Light showers developing tonight.

I'm guessing I got just over 60mm here with the CBD and Hawthorn data to go by as I'm in between.

Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Back from a 4 year old Birthday party without access to a computer .
Come home to find another 18.4mm so the event total sits on 72mm. That's the best event since last December (when we got 95mm). Still a way to go to the monthly average, however (MTD is 78mm and average is 109mm). Seems like we top scored the Dandenongs, but was clear better ~5km southwest of here over Karl's house.
Was some really good flows in the creeks and dams looking very full out through the northeastern/eastern burbs. Dandenong Creek was very full as was the Plenty River.
The system for this week looks fantastic, but that's for the other thread...

John, I wonder if I have seen your other half...as I grew up in west sunshine and that's where my folks still live!
Kororoit Creek is quite high, went for a bike ride along it's banks here in Caroline Springs, and I think as I mentioned, hights since the early 2000's.

Haha this is great. I looked outside and I thought hmmm those clouds look funny, looks like we might get a bit more, and sure enough the radar is showing convection off the bay!

Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Any idea what your YTD total is Karl?
The Melbourne water website for Mitcham says we have had 746mm. Apparently YTD this time last year was 496mm.
Have we really had THAT much more this year?

That's not bad, considering we didn't get anything from Jan to early Feb.

It is highly doubtful with many suspect readings out there Luke, but it would be around 550mm me thinks or closer to 600mm.
I have lost my records of the earlier months rainfall so I will try and source it and come back to you but we have had closer to 700mm down here now.

Re: Victoria: Broad area of low pressure - November 19th-25th 2009.
Well i was away all weekend at a friends place near black rock, on saturday arvo we decided it was NEVER gonig to rain, so we began putting the christmas lights up on the 2 storey house. Then not long into it was when it just came down bucketloads, so much so, everything was flooding within seconds. My friend decided he was going to get the lights put up, rain or no rain, so i stood under an umbrella directing him as he got soaked - least it was very warm still.
Just got home to boronia as the last deluge was upon us....doesnt seem to have been quite so much rain here - and was very releived to find the garage wasnt flooded like it usually does everything we get a storm.
so good to see all the rain and everything lapping it up and getting a good wash..but i really do miss the regular spring/summer thunderstorms that you could always rely on which now seem to be a thing of the past.

I think we will be getting a couple hopefully end of week James. You never know with this summer as well, we just need the right set up and we could be in for some belters!

47mm up to 9am this morning, and a further 17.5mm today. Front porch is completely flooded, and will take a few days to subside once the rain stops.
Just caught a glimpse of lightning off towards the south through the open blinds, the lights flickered similtaneously. No thunder heard, and have no idea how far away it was!
