Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Yeah and rather than storms developing - we develop sleeping disorders!!! It is probably because we know the tap can be turned off so fast!!
Don't want to miss it and complain that it never does anything - when clearly it is!!!
Highest falls seem to be around the 15mm mark in many region, and isolated totals of 30mm away from gauges are likely.
Still got decent crawlers around the western and southern horizon.

I think i might call it a night, when the eyes start to sting you know it's game over, unless there's alcohol involved and energy to burn.
Tomorrow's models look quite ok, might have another chance tomorrow which is cream on the top.

Tomorrow's will hold the potential for hail with a mixing of drier air moving in.
Got some lightning to the north now.

Night Australis!
No lightning visible from latest cell but now experiencing moderate to heavy rain.
If that Kilmore cell maintains strength and trajectory I will get smacked!!
For those interested SA are 3/265 off 42.1.
AB DeVilliers going bonkers. Now 3/294 off 44!!!

Hi guys, im watching the lightning to the north from Bundoora. Raining steadily with large drops now. Have been out looking for lightning pics all night with John Allen (Greg Sorenson - he mentioned your chase up north a few weeks back ) but nothing too decent to show for it with the only semi-active cells sliding south and west of us. Think the wind has shifted westerly in the last few minutes. Rain has backed off to a light shower. Really shouldve gone home hours ago! but as was said earlier, taking advantage of the weather while we have the chance.

Finally, lightning observed from that Yan Yean cell, and nice thunder.
Worth staying up for
PS: James, I think you'll cop the brunt of this cell mate!

Winds swirly too.

Nice light show here, plenty of CCs and crawlers and about 1mm further rainfall. Up to 4mm for the night.
I think that should be it for now.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Finally got some action, albeit brief as the Yan Yean cell moved passed me to the East by a few km's. Mostly cc's and flashes. Oh well, good night.
Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
I was at St Kilda for most of the night waiting, but all the action seemed out west from what I could see, most lightning was behind rain or cloud the whole night well in the distance. I ended up going south down the bay to Mordialloc, there was a huge gust front on the way with a bit of rain off and on when I got there. I managed to get a few pics when it hit with very strong winds (probably 80kmph+), sand and salt water blowing into me... that was the highlight of the night for me other then the annoying flashes and rare CG's which was useless to take pics of.
Gust front at 2:40AM from Mordialloc 1600 ISO
BTW, look like Melb radar went down at about 3AM

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Just 2.6mm down here in Sandy Point so a dud (pretty much as expected). Looks like about the same in Ferny Creek. Did hear any thunder.
Few good falls around - quite a few in the 10 to 15mm with the best a couple of 16mm falls.
Looks like showers developing from the west today - could well be thundery during the arvo. The radar should be interesting from late morning on.

Today could see some good action as the upper level cold pool moves in...looks like the SW could see the best of it but i think should be good for us as the timing is almost perfect for a little heating..

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Good morning all, Tony was spot on last night, this was another Caroline Springs fizzer. Just 3mm in the gauge this morning with no thunder & only lightning in the distance. I'm not really complaining too much as the garden probably needs a break from all that rain we got from Thursday and the previous system. Will be interesting to see what happens later on today.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Good morning everyone! I am so glad to see some people getting some action. Was a very nice line of thunderstorms followed by a second line later in the evening! We got hit by both, but the 2nd was more lightning occurring than the 1st.
Should see showers develop here after midday and some local thunderstorms.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Beautiful morning out there!! Fell asleep at 350 with nothing exciting to add.
Shame about today will be the capping of temps. If we could get to 26/27 it would be a ripping opportunity for storms.

Wish I had have. I went to bed just before the 1st band looked like hitting exspecting to wake up to at least a few mm. Just wandered out to the guage then, to find almost nothing.... just a few drops by the looks.
Ohh well can't win em all.
Is a beautiful morning though.
