Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
7.8mm down here in Sandy Point overnight - happy because the water tanks are now full for summer
Some really good falls around central parts into west Gippsland with lots of 20 to 50mm totals showing up.
Looks like about 20mm in Ferny Creek so the event up to (about 40mm). That will put us over the average for November which is a great save after the dud start to the month.
Can clearly see the new low bombing in eastern Bass Strait ATM with the rain building through Gippsland. Is an OK wrap around to this system so should take a while to clear out and could see more good falls the next 12-24 hours.

12mm here. Great to see some useful falls especially in Gippsland.

Picked up an extra couple of mm overnight which brings me to 22mm here in Elwood.
This is the radar loop from 11 lastnight to 9am for anyone who wants to see what they missed.

Some chunkier showers that will bring area's of rain can be seen heading in a more south/south east fashion now.

Looks like some very decent stuff pushing through the Geelong region right now, they will pick up a heap if it can keep coming off the bay like that.

Will those type of falls affect the crops?
Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Trentham's up to 49mm for the latest event and 136mm for the month - that's 4 out of 5 of the last months having average or above rainfall..... I think there'll be a lot of lawn mowing to be done next week!!!
Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Looks like we finally got something out of this system overnight, tipped 10mm out of my gauge this morning (7-8mm overnight, 2mm yesterday) which brings our total up to 13mm. Should be more to come this morning with those showers streaming up from the south.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Can report some very chunky Cb over Bass Strait in the wrap around bands. Tops look to be around 30/35K feet. Plent of large Cu over land bubbling away.
Bit of arvo heating and this could get good!

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
That decaying storm was followed up by light continuous drizzle overnight leaving us with 19mm in the gauge now (so 33.5mm for this event including Thursday afternoons storm).
Baro has jumped from 998 to 1000 hPa and we have light drizzle under 8/8 Ns thats slowly inching across from the west.
MLAPS progs us to get 25mm more during the day, certainly looking a possibility given the "blob" of cloud in Bass Straight is now showing signs of beginning a Northwards wrap-around direction back into the low over N Vic. Heres hoping anyhow.

Had 12mm and another 14.5mm o/nite. Very happy with that. Just did a replot on the Melb sounding with DP of 12.7 and it gave LI at -1.

12.6mm overnight to 9am. Quite a handy fall! Good to see you getting something Petros! You are in for a good afternoon IMO!

Snipe, Eildon is holding up well considering the early November heatwave, no rain during that period and farmers turning their taps on. And with the rain over the last two weeks the level has stabilised. Hills have remained brown but pastures have greened up again. The olive grove is looking great - they like it wet right now. Another 3mm o/night taking us to 10mm for the event adding to the 50mm from last weekend = exceeded monthly average rain up here! Water at Taylor Bay will be still good if you get up there soon.
Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Conditions look good for cold-air thunderstorms, Cb development is good, may get some hail.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Thanks for the update Anth!
Doubtful if I can get up to the Lake prior to Christmas but will be up for for 7-10 days during New Year period.
Nice and damp outside, some menacing looking cells around Geelong and Frankston. I'd be happy with another 5mm today.

Finshed with 15.6mm overnight here which is good. Nice slow top up for once.
Looking like we could either score 20mm or 2mm today. Not sure what to make of it but certainly things are going up and looking healthy.
MLAPS curiously shoves us into ESE winds with another 15-20mm tomorrow!!

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Well had 13.5mm here last night which takes me to almost an Inch for this event considering I had a poor start Thursday thats a nice return in the end.
Up to 96.5mm for the month here which makes it the wettest month since the Feb 05 event so its almost taken 5 years before we have seen another very month this way. City up to 91mm also the wettest month since Feb 05.
Another thing.. As we stand at this moment the City had had its exact average Spring rain now after a decent September, Poor October but excellent November and thats the 1st time that we have reached our "seasonal" rainfall average since the Summer of 2005/06 since then every season we have had below average rainfall.
Eastern suburbs have had a great Spring if you add the big downpours/storms at the end of October some suburbs that way had close to average rainfall for the month which means anywhere that way they have had an above average Spring interms of rainfall so all in all great turn around lets hope it lasts.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
A further 6.6mm overnight here.
I've got some amazing looking cloud closing in here, as dark as guts, extremely low level I assume it is a Cb. Looks like it is about to hit although radar has it all moving N/NW but the airstream is tending SE here so might start moving more N/NE as it reaches here.

The wonderful thing about this weather is that it is moving so slow, if you get something it will be very worthwhile. It is only moving at around 20-25 kph at the most.
There are some massive towers outside.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Calm humid 20.5C here with no rain to add to the 19mm overnight total in last 2 hrs, baro still steady on 1000 hPa. Sun is able to pop out occasionally between whats now become chunky Cb blobs all round, these are now inching along slowly heading NE. If the uppers were cool enough these would be storms I reckon.
Perhaps we are sitting in the pivot point just ahead of west flank of the inland low atm.

Re: Follow up rain-storms Nov 26-29th.
Im with karl, this could go either way...zero wind, sun out, humid and towers galore outside, big ones too. Seems it is set up for an ice cold air type showery afternoon with a bit of heating and a warmish bay. Only problem for me is the orientation, most places from CBD and western suburbs will do very well, Eastern not as good IMO, but with some convection you just never know what the afternoon holds.
