More thunder and cc lightning here - very infrequent, but it's about every 2 minutes here, better than I could hope for today, wasn't expecting much.

for DAMAGING WIND
For people in the Northeast, North Central, Central and parts of the Northern Country, West and South Gippsland and Alpine Forecast Districts.
Issued at 3:14 pm Thursday, 3 September 2009.
Severe thunderstorms have the potential to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Melbourne, Wodonga and Wangaratta.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your home.
* stay indoors if possible.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* if you are outside, avoid sheltering under trees
* listen to the radio for storm updates
* switch off your computer and electrical appliances
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:15 pm.
If severe thunderstorms develop in the Melbourne Area, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.

That sound of chain saws and mulchers quickly stopped and replaced with Thunder. Rain just starting in Boronia, was pretty warm out there earlier gardening got to 21.6 @2.48

Just starting to rain here. Wind is really gusting up. Few power fluctuations and distant rumbles. but not much lightning here. Mostly wind and water.

well that was very dissapointing here in boronia central, one distant rumble and some light rain but a lot of wind

Well, We seemed to have missed any lightning here, but some great wind driven rain here. Still going a little, will probably be all over for me in the next 5 minutes

Looking at the obs that line sits on a convergence of NE to NW winds. Behind the band it's all NW - edit though with some more showers suddenly developing
Stunning how quickly it developed but also over so quickly with pretty piddly rainfall totals (about 1.5mm up here). Still, got about 10 rumbles though mostly pretty distant. Looks like Mt Macedon leads the metro area ATM with 3mm.

I picked up 5mm in the garden at work in Toorak, i have NEVER seen it fall so heavily in all the time that i have worked there.Shame it was only for about 7mins Crazy thunder and lightning too, it was scary
