I think we are ruling out today a touch too quickly. If/when the sun gets out, we could see some good action. Plenty of moisture in the air, besides that, i dont want storms tomorrow, i cant chase because I'm at a wedding lol.

I wish this band would either:
a) Bugger off and allow a clear slot to appear, or:
b) sit over us all day and drop 4 inches of rain
Alas I don't think either will occur!!

I think I'd prefer option a). It's been way too long between storms for this area. Besides, I have gardening to do later & I don't particulary want to be working in mud.

I will be heading out after 4pm Greg. Picking up a mate @ Greensborough who is a keen photographer. Will head up towards Yan Yean, then check on status. Thinking on finishing up around Kilmore.

Hey all nightshift was a very warm and muggy one indeed but seems to have dried out again up here and not much going on. We had some thundery looking convection just before sunrise but all gone now with a thin vale of high cloud over us. Not effecting temps that much so dunno we may have to wait till it gets over 30 before we see anything

I haven't made up my mind yet either but would love to keep in touch with everyone to see how they are going.
Could be such an epic event, that lots of people can enjoy.

Thanks hillybilly Our home is being auctioned at midday tomorrow so hope not too many storms around then. I woke up to two beautiful male peacocks in the tulip tree next to our house. They are now just strutting around the garden looking quite at home. If they are here tomorrow for the auction they'll add a lovely touch. Needless to say I have taken heaps of photos of them and fed them. They have been in various neighbours yards over the last couple of days and haven't been able to find the owners yet.
Good luck to all the stormchasers today

Yep and right on cue GFS now goes back to -6 this arvo almost as if it knows cloud cover will disperse this arvo, and interestingly now shows CAPE at 2000 at 5pm tomorrow for the whole state not just Eastern areas...
Already 30/13 through the mallee and 26/14 at Aireys Inlet so its only a matter of time before we see this become general throughout Vic..

Steady light rain falling last 20 mins here bit of a surprise was expecting cloud this morning but was hoping for not this much and not rain.
Why is it that every time a day looks good it gets clouded out so annoying happened alot in the Mallee 2 summers ago.
Well looking interesting still might head out W NW of Melbourne but all this cloud is a worry wish it would burn off, there is alot of it to move though and its moving very slowly.
Rain over east Melb is very slow moving and back building could rain for least another half hour here, any other day nice surprise but not today lol
Still will be watching closely from 2pm lets pray for the sun

Strom's firing in the clear air around the Swan hill, Kerang area so looking good for them up that way hope that clear slot out west opens up soon.
Had 1mm so far with bit more to come easy 5mm falls about with this blob of rain

Re: Victoria: Thunderstorm Outbreak. October 28th-November 3rd 2009
fairly heavy rain here in moonee;) usually miss out.....
Re: Victoria: Thunderstorm Outbreak. October 28th-November 3rd 2009
Been light spitting rain here for about 20 minutes. Still fairly heavy cloud cover, and temps have been slowly dropping towards 20 for the last couple of hours. DP on about 17 at the moment, RH at 78% with light north easterly winds. Really need this cloud cover to break up for any hope of action in the east. Definitely looking as tho the NW is the place to be this arvo.

Had light rain in Moorabbin for a few hours this morning. It just stopped, but what a nice thing to wake up to.

That Cloud Band looks like its not going to move today and I reckon it will be in for most of the day! Looks like no-one including BOM has picked the senario out today
IMO SAT SUN and MON all look like similar days now to me, with high temps forecast. It looks to me like all those days will start out sunny and warm. with the heat and clouds building up around the ranges in the afternoon...and good potentiol for storms to kick off
