Re: Victoria: Southeast Low 6-10 September
As for the models being less interested, all models were for Friday just gone when we picked up 5-10mm over much of east Melbourne and into the eastern half of the state. So spring can surprise.
I am too a little skeptical over the rain situation however have learnt to let things pan out, looking at the radar the rain and showers are increasing thanks to the diurnal heating. This should thicken up and cross Melbourne this afternoon with the chance of a few rumbles.
Quite a nice storm starting to developing S of Buller.

Solid 5 min shower in CBD, which has now passed.
Have a good gut feel about this afternoon.

Re: Victoria: Southeast Low 6-10 September
LAPS and MLAPS are similar to EC This won't be big, but certainly areas with SW aspect should do well.
1.4mm in the CBD in quick time and radar starting to fill in nicely.

Sky has completely changed here. Plenty of fresh cj and turkeys with the odd CB to the south and southwest sky. Decaying shower to my west and southwest (immediate) and plenty of cu developing.
I think the next 1-2hrs should see things develop smartly. Quite dark to my NW.

Yes quite right DJ. I think it is going to be rather restrictive to the eastern side of Melbourne post tonight. A very tight rainfall gradient is likely starting from about Glen Waverly- Doncaster eastwards into the hills.

Seems to be raining from two levels in the atmosphere. Judging by radar anyway.
Winds are SW in the bay but NE in Geelong so I am not sure what is happening, possibly a few short waves coming through.
Getting more thundery at the moment.
1mm here so far with rain starting again.

Have been watching that cell to the west of Melbourne - just rang Clyve (in Newport) - he suggested that waterspouts today might not be a surprise with the trough coming through - interesting lowering......
Re: Victoria: Southeast Low 6-10 September
Plenty of showers with only a few echoes suggesting thunderstorm status.
5mm in Geelong and 3mm at Avalon so far. Just had another shower here but the best just to my east and southeast,
Fingers crossed for more organisation.

Sun popping out here, have a feeling we might be in for a bit of thunder sometime during the rest of the afternoon.

Re: Southeast Low 6-10 September
By the look of the trajectory on the radar it might make to north central areas this afternoon.
Re: Victoria: Southeast Low 6-10 September
Had a couple of distant rumbles here but no rain as yet. Temp. dropped from 19 to 16 with showers in the area.

Some signs of that storm near Orbost being severe moving against the general flow of precip. Almost hugging the coast. Some damaging winds in that for sure.

Any rain over the City at the moment? Looks like a nice deep rain curtain over there as I write this. Little shower passing through here as well.

Re: Victoria: Southeast Low 6-10 September
For such an active day today very little talk in here must not be much action in the Eastern suburbs today Up to 2mm here with that little so called shower taking me to 4mm for the day. Light southerly wind here as well which is the 1st southerly wind I have seen around this area in at least 6 weeks
EDIT: Thanks Blackie for confirming that
