Heard the thunder to the east. Watching the new line of cj to the west with pileus developing on knuckles towards the SW of here.

Warm northerly has just gusted up (which will dry things, was nice and humid not long ago), 25C, baro 995 hPa now. Got 2mm of rain this morning in the prefrontal band.

had a downpour for bout 10min 1mm got drenched packing all the tools away! had one distant roll of thunder

Radar is certainly firing up to the east, looks very impressive. On a lighter note I will bet good money that the large band developing to the east of us will track very nicely SE and miss us entirely!

Just had a short 2 minute light shower, but the drops were extremely fat.. Heard one distant rumble as it first went over. But thats it so far.

Not even a drop so far today. That should change soon though.

When I heard the forecast this morning, the torrential rain from Moorabbin to Frankston we just had was not mentioned, but its very welcome.

Is this the break we have been waiting for? Every other year Id say yes, but sick of thinking like that the last 14 years or so.

Glenmaggie is releasing water, down Rosedale waay, its a blanket of water to the coast. Cows on hillocks and one farmer was using a jetski on the weekend to round em up!

Not good at all so far, Very patchy morning band had little to nothing for much of the state and only a bit in the NE.
Next band moving though again very patchy some scattered heavy showers and odd thunderstorm with quick 3-7mm totals but not much more

Things really cooling down and should get few showers but nothing great
Cant see the 25-50mm falls
Sw and Parts of South and hills will get 20mm+ by later this week and small areas were convergence sets up will also do well.
Little for N of the Mounts only Ne will do ok

Tomorrow looking the best day also should be showery evening ahead

Only few spits here so far but much cooler and heavy showers just missing me to the SW

Just copped the edge of a heavy shower with the wind change. Might have scraped a mm out of it but I reckon the core if it might have got up to 5mm

Glenmaggie is currenly releasing, but small volumes, expected stop to later on this week (unless this new system delivers). There was some minor spilling around the Latrobe R near Rosedale for a day or so a week ago, but virtually no paddock flooding.

Its turned westerly here and cooling fast on the lee side of a cloud bank that delivered showers in the LV in the past hours. Seems to be all diffused here, will have to wait till tomorrow I suppose.

No Government will ever build another dam. It might not cost them the next election, but they think it will so thats enough reason to make them taboo.

You can build all the desal plants you like on the coast, but the inland will remain untouched.

If I was in charge, water would be taken from the states and put in charge of the federal government. As it is, everyone just fights for the cake but no one adds to it.

Its crazy, this is the driest inhabited continent on earth. So why dont we populate the country with huge dams? open the joint up! On a map, we look no different to 1909. Not one new city, just bigger ones. No water, so no one has opened the country up. Now we worry too much about the environment. Be ineresting to come back in 100 years time.

The radar has been overestimating here for the last hour. Just spits and drizzle.

Heard a splat on the radio 5 minutes ago, then the drops of rain increased in size. We now have thunder emanating from the most pathetic high based hardly-grey sky I've ever experienced, even corn-sized hail!!. With clear sky to our west (almost making it to overhead), we have a full arc, double banded rainbow out to our east that the kids will remember for a long time!!

1.5mm out of it, and it keeps on sprinkling, must be a "back building" phenomenom, loud thunder still happening despite it beign all over 5 minutes ago (I thought) - and medium rain persisting out of basically no cloud above.

I reckon that Proteus has accidently aimed the tubular aluminium storm device upstairs in Paynesville in our direction.

A band of thunderstorms just passed through with a lot of noise and 4.5mm rain in gauge.Guess some places would have alot more rain than us.

Well my metal storm attractor has done it's job with a nice thunder storm passing just to my North but did get the edge and 0.5mm of rain. Still seeing lightening as it fades away to the ENE.

0.8mm here. Looks like this initial activity is all sliding south hence the BOM mention of 'southern and mountain areas' which basically means south of the ranges and the Yarra Ranges to Alps and is usually mentioned when there is SW flow or the system is slipping south.

Not expecting much more until tomorrow when widespread moderate to heavy falls are in the models then it looks very promising after that with very showery days

Had 3mm up here today, so pretty much as expected. Is very unstable out there ATM so anything that gets going will continue. The next band looks interesting - would anticipate it back building north.

Was down in Sandy Point for most of the day and ran into an absolute thumping storm near Leongatha. Would guessestimate sustained rainfall rates in the 50-100mm/hr for a stretch of about 30km of road. Usually am happy to drive at close to 100km/hr on the south Gippy highway but was down to 60km/hr or less. There was sheets of water in the paddocks/across the road.

Been seeing some rain at times today, then showers ever since. No thunderstorms this way yet, but I am expecting cold-air storms to develop overnight and tomorrow.

Expect scattered showers through much of the state tomorrow, increasing to areas of rain perhaps over the southwestern and south central areas during the day. Isolated thunderstorms (cold-air type) mostly over the southwest and northeast, but in general possible anywhere bar the northwest.
