Doppler wind shows the line in the bay really well, I might get lucky.

Definitely a squall line. Mornington looks to be taking the brunt at the moment.

14mm here just a moment ago but a bit more rain since then so maybe another mm or so. Not too bad at all and still a bit of activity to come by the looks of things.

That line centred on Mornington atm looks like a near stationary line of convergence between the approaching westerlies and the current N/NW.

Dear lord did the pillars of heaven shake last night.

Wild winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightning made it very difficult to sleep, hopefully today and tonight is slightly calmer.

Had a very good burst of thundery rain with high winds at 11am that lasted about half hour. Now light rain. Winds have eased.

Awaiting the WNW change which will be accompanied by a burst of heavy rain and strong winds.

Then the coldies.

You are lucky Karl. Nothing like that here in Lilydale. Maybe 10-20 minutes worth of light to moderate rain with the odd big gust but I don't think we have had thunder yet. What do you think this afternoon and evening hold? Do you think there still the prospect for storms with locally destructive wind gusts and torrential-type downpours?

I expect a few showers and the chance of a thunderstorm with hail to continue this afternoon before easing overnight. Maybe up to 5mm further across the Melbourne region.

So far just enough to wet the ground here in Ringwood. Neighbours are working outside doing the gardening and not getting too wet!

Up to 20.4mm now. Looking towards an inch if things go well this afternoon.

Back to a nice cold 8.4C. It just scraped above 10C earlier this morning.

Changing the topic slightly, what is everyone's thoughts for Wednesday/Thursday? Will it be very similar to what we have seen yesterday/today in terms of temps, wind and rainfall?

ILS - There will be an influx of NW moisture... How much is uncertain but we could see a reasonable rainband develop with isolated thunderstorms. Looks windy and warm also.

Squally rain here presently, really monsoonal at times. Eased back again but some gusts getting closer to 45 knots with every burst.

3.8mm so far here.

Wild night here as well, hard to sleep at times with the winds pounding the windows and roof with bursts of heavy showers making it very hard to stay asleep. Good to see the radar so active though. There's a few cranes around here that created that howling affect similar to the mountains. Quite strange.

Don't think we've had too much here in terms of rainfall, perhaps a few mm. Hopefully some heavy showers to come.

Absolutely teaming down here the last 10 minutes. Would be 3-4mm in that easily. Backed off a bit but still steady.

7.5mm so far, seems to be one of the better falls in the metro area. No damage around here from the winds despite it easily been the worst this year how quite a few power surges.

nice totals for Andrew and other in central ranges. In Mansfield we've had 12mm. That cold air field looks great to our west. Could someone explain why this isn't likely to reach us with rain.

Finished with a healthy 9mm here out of the rainband which is a very big surprise. The rainfall was heavy off and on for about 2hrs here. Similar to what you have had along the ranges there guys.

Now pressure is falling smartly ahead of the next trough and cold air field. A good chance of seeing a line of thunderstorms and strong winds as the coldest air moves into region. N winds are developing but 1/3 the strength as before.

I'd say we've just passed into the colder air now and the sky is just starting to take on that 'coldie' look about it with a few sunny breaks but Cu developing.

Will be interesting this evening.
